Duerr's Ginger Chunky Preserve 454G

Jams and preserves aren’t my thing, generally. I have blackberry jam and orange marmalade in the fridge that have been eaten seldom by me since purchased. They come in handy for guests.However, these ginger preserves have hooked me. The fact is that I am scraping the bottom of a 16 ounce jar and I just bought two more jars in case it goes up in price or suddenly stops being available. It is chunky and thick, but the real thing for me is the intense ginger flavor. It’s just enough, but not biting, and it’s a perfect wake up treat on either a cold winter morning or a bright spring one. There’s something about it that is luxurious and exotic and several cuts above even the best fruit jam out there.

Years ago, Duerr's ginger "marmalade" had actual, visible chunks of ginger. I really, REALLY loved it! Duerr seems to have changed not only the packaging, but also the texture. They used to use a thick white, opaque bottle that looked like it was ceramic. This clear glass bottle of 'chunky' has no chunks in it. It looks like just regular jam, except not as smooth texture. Nevertheless, the flavor, although more sweet and less ginger-y than before, is still better than that of other brands that I have tried. The $11 shipping cost is shocking, but I wanted it sent as a gift so paid it.

Very gingery, thick and luscious. Great on toast and makes a good glaze for chicken.

The Jelly was good. the shipping cost was outrageous. The jelly cost 7.00, the shipping was $13.plus! what a rip off.
