Excellent product, but I've decided against using it for swimming.
I purchased this waterproof iPod with the intention of using it during long swims, but I've found that it annoys me too much. I'll clarify, because it's not a product defect that annoys me, it has to do with what I've come to value during my swim times. First, I must emphasize that it works VERY well. The sound is clear (except during a flip turn, of course), and the device stays on even when I'm doing the butterfly stroke. Sometimes the ear buds will pop out, but it doesn't require much effort to pop them back in, and if you stretch your swim cap over your ears, it'll help to keep the buds in place. If you're doing a timed set, or you're counting strokes, it IS annoying to have the earbuds dangling alongside your face until you're able to put them back into place. I appreciated the cone-shaped earbuds, since the circular buds that typically come with a iPod are excruciating to me (and won't stay in place). I have a friend who's had her waterproof iPod for more than two years, and she wears it every time she swims and is very happy with it.What I found I don't like is that the continuous play of music underwater upsets the meditative quality of the sensory deprivation that comes with having your head underwater. I really like only hearing the bubbles that I exhale. When I'm trying to get through a really long set that has several smaller components, and I need to keep track of where I am, I like forcing myself to think of a mental playlist to keep track, and it's a playlist that isn't constant--I just think of a few bars of each song as a placekeeper. This wasn't a waste of money, in my opinion, since I can still use this iPod in the bathtub and in the rain (or even as a regular ole iPod)! I subtracted one star for the occasional annoyance caused by the earbuds, but if I could give it 4.5 stars, I would.

These break all the time
This is a wonderful product, however they break every 6 to 8 months. The battery is also very sensitive to charging and will burn out very easily if left too long...

A game changer for water workouts
I “run” in the water and the waterproof iPod makes the workout much more enjoyable. I also feel I get a better workout when I listen to music (don’t know if that’s true!) I clip the Shuffle to my swimsuit strap near my shoulder. The cord length on the earbuds is perfect. Not so long that it dangles and not so short that it pulls. It’s completely waterproof. It doesn’t take long to charge and is super easy to use. I have an original Shuffle from years ago (not waterproof) and it seems the sound quality is better on that one. My waterproof shuffle seems to be heavy on the treble and light on the bass, but perhaps it was the music I downloaded and not the shuffle. I am still very happy with my purchase.

Three Stars
Had to return because it would not sync with my itunes. So bummed.

Flay out best.
Absolutely, hands down, no contest, best waterproof sound system for swimming that is available. And I have tried them all. No issue with size - it is simply an iPod Shuffle that when attached to my goggles is totally unobtrusive. No issue with turns, the earplugs stay in. (It may take some trial and error to match the correct plug to your unique ear size and shape but once done flip turns are no issue.) Easy to program and the sound is excellent. I use mine virtually every day. This is my second one - purchased so that I have one with music and one with podcasts and lectures and can simply grab the one I feel like listening to that day.

Angel hair wires with iTunes.
One ear bud did not work so I never got in the water with these. I decided to return rather than replace because the wires look so flimsy. You are also forced to use iTunes software, and iPods are pricey.UPDATE: Lowering rating from three to two stars. Underwater Audio is pestering me to change my mediocre rating because they are family owned. That's no reason. In fact, I'm very happy with the Sony waterproof earphones I found for 1/3 the price. This is probably the best thing I've purchased in 10 years
wow...what a game changer. This is probably the best thing I've purchased in 10 years. I have used it 3 times so far and its still on the original charge. There's just something about swimming laps and listening to your favorite music which kinda blew my mind at first and is still pretty awesome feeling going to the pool knowing I am gonna be able to listen to music. It's as loud as I'd ever want it to be and the sound is crystal clear and does not change when my head moves in and out of the water. After my Jeep and Temperpedic bed--this is my 3rd most favorite posession! ha ha

Most reliable and easy to use solution
I like to swim in both the sea and lap pools and the waterproofed iPod shuffle is by far and away the best solution I've found. It clips simply to my swim goggles and using the supplied short lead swimbuds I always get good sound from buds that don't pop out. My kids keep "borrowing" them and they just swap out the bud covers to fit their ears. All in all a great package

which is good. It was a bit of a faff keeping ...
I had fallen into the habit of neglecting my daily exercise because I was so busy with my work, and that led to my putting on weight and slowing down even further. Since I bought my waterproof iPod, I go swimming more, because I can feel I'm doing two things at once; I can learn French, listen to relaxing or more upbeat music, listen to audiobooks, whilst enjoying the water and the exercise. Time passes more quickly, and I find I want to stay in the pool and swim for longer, which is good. It was a bit of a faff keeping it in place on my head at first; I had to borrow some goggles so that I could attach the iPod to the strap, and I don't wear goggles as a rule, so that was a bit awkward. Then I made a stretchy strap from the headband of an old head torch, and this now sits comfortably around my head with the iPod sitting securely at the back. As long as you set your music up before you put it on your head, so that what you want to listen to is ready to go when you press the play button at the back of your head, it's fine. Just press the central button again when you want it to stop. All in all, I'm so glad I invested in this tiny player, it has made a difference to my health already by encouraging me to swim more often, and for longer. A good investment.

Beautiful quality item
Beautiful quality item! I have had previously the Waterfi iPod shuffle than unfort had a few problems and the after 2 replacement the last one lasted a year....bare in mind I swim daily so a year is impressive. This feels like a far higher quality build so 🤞🏼 It lasts. So annoyed with Apple for discontinuing this and solely due to their money grabbing attitude....no apps in in app purchases on such a device to have an longer term source of income from us. Shame on you apple! Pure greed!

I can only say the apple shuffle is brilliant. I know some reviews say about the headphones ...
I have had another product for use in the pool but struggled with the volume in that I could not say what I had been listening to. I was dubious about putting the extra money towards this product at almost double the price. I should not have worried. I can only say the apple shuffle is brilliant. I know some reviews say about the headphones but even on first use I had no problems and swam for an hour enjoying good clear and audible music. At one point far too loud but you can always turn down from there. It was fantastic although AC/DC - if you want blood is definitely too much to swim to! I would never consider anything else. However, my 8-year-old son who is a brilliant club swimmer now thinks it is the best gadget we own and I think he probably has designs on it for his training. I would recommend this to anyone who spends time in the water - just remember to point out to others that it is a waterproof version and that the everyday shuffle is not waterproof before they jump into the pool wearing one. This is one of my best ever purchases.

Pricey but Worth It
A splendid gadget. It's been working well with near-daily swims for a couple of weeks now. The bundled headphones were worth the extra £11, but it's the iPod that's the star. It seems mad to pay three times the retail price of a non-waterproof ipod, but there's nothing to match it, and it's worth it for the simplicity and convenience.
