Working well so far - going to add some river rock
I got this so the birds in my area have drinking water available during the winter. They can eat snow but the amount of energy required to deal with eating snow is high. Also, the Stellars gargle water sometimes, I think to clean out the little throat pouch (crop) they have for storing a bunch of seeds when they forage. They need water for that.I'm in the mountains in Colorado and even with the abundant sun we get there are still streaks of cold temperatures that make it hard for the birds to find water.I didn't want to poison the birds with who-knows-what leaching from the plastic so I was pleased to find this made in USA (mostly) product. It looks like the stand and the basin (the most important part since this is what touches the birds water) are made in USA so I guess they are using a foreign heating element. I don't care as much about that; it does not contact the water.I'm going to put some river rock in the birdbath to make it less attractive for bathing and only for drinking. I have read that birds consider unfrozen water as an indicator it may be warm enough they can bathe safely. Because this birdbath is heated they might be deceived and bathe when it's too cold out putting them at risk. A few river rocks will obstruct bathing preventing them from making a dangerous mistake but still allowing them to drink.

Reliable and Much Appreciated by Bird and Squirrel
I did a lot of research on heated birdbaths and decided to buy a whole bath, rather than an element that heats the water of a prettier summer birdbath. I didn't like the idea of submerging something electric in water, despite all the listed safety features and warnings. This heated birdbath has operated without a hitch during all the winter months since 2019. I was not aware how important a fresh water supply would be to the birds and the squirrels in my back garden - as there is a pretty clean river nearby, but they use it all the time, especially on snowy days. And it is nice to know this one works reliably and safely on my grounded outdoor electric box. It is not aesthetically beautiful, like the one I use in the summer, but that was not my priority. For a hard winter, one wants reliable function and durability. This birdbath offers both.

Easiest-to-clean birdbath I've ever had!
I had another heated birdbath with a "sandy" finish that made it extremely difficult to clean. This one, which is hard black rubber, simply doesn't seem to hold dirt and algae. I haven't had to scrub it out yet, after using it for a month. I just empty out the water and rinse it out. It's stayed de-iced except when I let the water get low. Then it will ice up around the rim. But that's operator error, not the fault of the birdbath. I am very happy with my purchase.

Perhaps a little to deep
Works fine as far as being ice-free in the cold weather. The birds don't seem as stable on the edge as they did on the concrete bath I had before, but they are using it for drinking. My old bird bath wasn't as deep so I saw birds regularly using it as a bath, but after a month I still haven't seen them use this one. I think the water is just too deep. It's allot easier to keep clean compared to the concrete one.

The birds like it
So far so good. Only had it a few days but it has been below freezing and the water in the birdbath has not frozen. We have had many birds stop by for a drink.

Seems to work
Found it works best when it kept completely full. Should have left more power cord free under stand that way easy to lift up tip over for cleaning. Had twelve inches of snow on cord later on. Did get used but not as much as I thought it would. 14 difference kinds of bird come to my feeders. Bought the summer tub on EBay for about 32.00 others wanted over 50.00

Winter Joy!
I got this for my mom so that she could continue to watch the birdies out the window during the winter. She absolutely loves it and it really is wonderful! The little squirrels come as well and it is such a good service to the little birds and animals over the winter.

Heated Birdbath
Love this little thing. Sits on a large flat stone we have in the garden - water stays warm - birds LOVE it as do we. It is so easy to fill and clean. All types of birds & even the squirrels drink from it and its fun to watch our little 'polar club' take baths on nicer days.
