good container but a little smaller than described
I bought this for a specific purpose, to put something in. I measured carefully, and bought this about 1/4" bigger than needed - but it turns out it's actually just under 5.25" wide, almost 1/2" smaller than the description, and just a bit too small to fit. Both Amazon and the seller should be more careful about getting the information on their products right! Usually this little discrepancy won't matter - but discrepancies on some other products are a much bigger problem.Otherwise, this looks like a great little container, and I intend to keep it for food/general purpose storage. Glass is very green: not only recyclable; glass generally won't leach or release fumes into food. :-D The lid (plastic) seals tightly.

the container seems to be in good quality, it is thick and heavy
I didn't pay attention to the shipment fee, which is even higher than the price of the product. Anyway, the container seems to be in good quality, it is thick and heavy.

I like these Glass Lock containers!
My sister has raved about the lock n' lock containers for quite some time, and she even got me one for Christmas a couple of years back. I liked it, but for foodstuffs that I might want to reheat in the microwave, I didn't want plastic. I don't recall exactly who in my family discovered these, or when, but I asked for some of these for a Christmas gift, and received a set of three of them. I like them very much, so I decided to get some larger sizes as well. This size is nice as you can put a full quart into it, and still have some "headroom".I have not noticed that it is overly difficult to lock down the lids on any of these that I own; they take a purposeful amount of pressure to close, but not what I would call difficult.I just hope that the lids are durable and the hinges on the locking tabs don't break, but only time will tell. But aside from that unknown, I am extremely pleased with all of these that I own.

Very Dangerous
I purchased these at a local store after using some at my Mother-in-Law's at Christmas time. I really wanted food storage containers that were easy to use-less concern about losing the lids and would fit well in the fridge.Yesterday I had one of these containers sitting on the counter for several hours because I was going to dispose of the food in the container. I emptied the food in the garbage and began rinsing the container with WARM water. Suddenly the container exploded in my hands, with no warning, and shattered glass flew everywhere. Even on the floor behind me. I had pieces of small glass in my hands and still today am finding pieces of small glass on the floor. This experience was horrifying and I still do not know what possibly could have created such an explosion since there was no extreme variation in temperature. THESE ARE DANGEROUS and likely will be recalled before long.

This size perfect for. . .
We have begun to leave butter in a sealed container on the kitchen counter so it is soft for spreading on toast or baked potatoes or buttering a pan, etc. I purchased a "large" butter dish of heavy glass, very retro looking, that I was excited to start using, because it's dimensions indicated it would hold a one pound solid bar of butter (I buy the butter from Sam's club). Alas, the listed dimensions were for the outside of the dish, and the butter fits in the inside of the dish, so this didn't work.I ordered this Kinetic Glasslock container and so far it is working wonderfully. If the one pound block of butter is from Costco it is a different size (reflecting Costco's west coast roots) but a simple cut in half and the container holds both halves perfectly. When one pound is gone, I simply wipe out any excess butter, wash it in the dishwasher, and start again. It's attractive, strong, easy to use. Makes me want to start acquiring all the various sizes available.

Completely leak-proof seal
But it didn't work for my original intent which was to carry soup for lunch. The rectangular shape is too difficult to eat from. Instead I just use it for storage.

Shattered into smithereens on first use when I put warm food into it
Maybe I got a lemon, but I am not willing to experiment with a few more containers to find out if that was indeed the case; I wasted too much time throwing away the food and cleaning up. Besides, they are fairly costly, after all.Going back to Pyrex.

I love Kinetic Glass Lock.
I won't use anything else and why does Amazon make me write 20 words every time I write a review. It's a good product. Snaps on tight. Can be a little hard to close sometimes but that makes for a tighter seal. This is the best food storage on the market, and yes, it's heavy if you carry your lunch to work every day in it, but so what. It'll never spill and I never worry about chemicals or microwaving in it or worry about it breaking. Love it love it love it.
