great watch and great value!
Let's get right to it.PROSThe high polish case and bracelet are gorgeous and very eye catching. I catch people looking all of the time; even if I'm just walking past them at the mall. The style is nice and very classical. The guilloche design in both the middle and outer part, the Breguet hands, and the insignias on the end links all contribute subtle little flourishes. These flourishes work together to give the impression that this watch was carefully designed. The case back shows a somewhat embellished movement, but the nice part is the cursive style writing around the window. The watch, together with the bracelet, has some heft to it. Personally, I like it because the weight makes it feel more solid. Also, it lets you know that you're wearing it, and I think that's a good thing. The dial has a classic design with small roman numerals which gives it an understated look. I feel that this draws you in a bit more than if it had large numerals. The price! This watch seems to sell on the internet for between six and seven hundo. For an embellished ETA2824 movement, with a gorgeous case, dial, and bracelet; I think that's a good price. The construction seems to be of very good quality, so the full retail of $1,400 would be a fair price (neither good nor bad). But at half that cost, this watch is a great value.I feel that another pro is the brand. It's not well known to the public, like the watches they sell in Macy's, but watch enthusiasts know FC as being an impressive brand. They have their own in-house movements (though not in this model), and a stated objective of creating value oriented luxury watches. The founder and CEO, seems like a genuine guy who really has a passion both for luxury watches and for the ideal of making them accessible to more people. I would much rather wear this on my wrist than an almost identical watch from Raymond Weil. All in all, I feel that this is a watch made by and for watch lovers, and FC respects the fact that we can't all spend upwards of $5k, $10k, or more on our watches.CONSIt's a very minor point, but I think the oyster style bracelet is too modern for such a classic design. I think a band with finer links (such as the one on the 40mm version) would have been a better fit.The face and numerals are very small by modern standards. Personally, I like it since I wanted a more classic style, but it does reduce readability somewhat.
