Fleck 80k On Demand Water Softener with Resin Made in USA/Canada 80,000 Grains Black

I got an 80k capacity MONSTER unit. Install and adding partially filled resin was a breeze with provided funnel. everything in installation was as expected. My previous softener was 30k capacity old timer-style unit and it was shorter so I had to adjust copper lines to match new head height. Other than that it was simple. One thing that was not clear from instructions though is that Fleck Head had to be programmed for resin capacity and recharge duration in Master programming menu, not in short programming menu where you can access water hardness value setting by simply holding Up/Down buttons. The head manual said that initial programming was done and does not require re-programming for most installations, but that's not the case for large capacity water softeners. Also one thing to mention, softer comes with water test strip to check for hardness but it is not accurate way to do it. I had to buy HACH total water hardness test that is accurate to 1 Grains per gallon, to program harness and get accurate recharge intervals. you do need to test for that few times a year as well water hardness is not constant. My water comes from township public deep water wells so the city officially published water hardness to be 17 grains per gallon, I measured it at home to be 24. After programming the head it showed almost 3000Gal water capacity per regeneration cycle, unit ran for a month and its great, saves salt, I dont have to guess how often I need to recharge it per month to keep soft water flowing like I had to with old time style setup. No leaks, no drips. Very happy so far. What else to expect from Water Softener?

Have bought from them before without issues. This time I was a little peeved. Got blue tanks instead of the black as specified, and no resin funnel was supplied. Otherwise the unit was as expected and works fine so far.

We called our plumber to install. He had never done this brand. Turns out he had to order the connections that go from the wall to the tank....because in the whole city(size of 375K) there wasn't one to be had 3/4 to 1 inch. After the parts came in the rest was easy. I'm giving it 4 stars because of the install. They should get 5 stars for their Customer service help on the phone. VERY friendly and customer based. The unit is working fine now...

I bought this to replace an old water softener that was leaking. The hard water in this area is really bad. A local plumber quoted me over $3k for a similar system installed. So much cheaper to just buy this and install it myself. This kit went in quick, only taking about 30-45 minutes for install, and I’m not the most handy person.
