A Great Feeder
We have only had this feeder for a few days, but so far it has prevented our marauding blue jays from cleaning out the sunflower seed as they did with our open tray type feeder. I saw one try to stick his head through the caging of this feeder and he couldn't quite reach the seed screen. So, now they just swarm in and have to ground feed. We have one resident red squirrel but have yet to see it at the feeder. The caging is certainly too small for gray squirrels to get through. I think someone remarked that they had a squirrel that figured out how to open the locking mechanism. That would have to be one pretty strong squirrel. Otherwise, the feeder is sturdily built. It could probably be four times as large so you wouldn't have to fill it so often. With principally lots of chickadees, finches and an occasional titmouse or nuthatch the feeder takes on average about three days before the seed is so low that refilling becomes necessary. The roof seems to be wide enough to keep the seed mostly dry. And the fact that it has no "floor" to it, means you don't get pasty accumulations of chaff. Any "wasted" seed falls through the caging and gets eaten by the ground feeders. Some people may not like the screened seed/peanut holder because when you fill it there is some food loss. Not all sunflower seed is ideally suited for the screen size openings. So, some seed will just sift through. Just fill the feeder where other birds can benefit from the seed that slips through the screening. We have hung the feeder on a large hook on a tree branch. But the feeder can also be pole mounted because it has a threaded hole in the bottom. I would think the manufacturer sells it?

Great quality
I put this feeder out and immediately had my squirrel inspecter come and check this out. I believe he sits in the trees waiting for me to add new things to my back yard! He spent at least half an hour trying to come up with ways to gets the sunflowers. He finally gave up. The grackles that bullied most other birds away from my other feeder have slowed down. They can get at the seeds but have to work for them. They don't all flock on this, giving other birds a chance. Last night what I believe was a raccoon pried the chain loose and took the feeder into the woods. I found it this morning with no damage, except for a few bite marks on the handle that humans use to open the feeder for filling.

Starlings
This feeder is nice to look at and easy to fill. That's about it. I bought this feeder for peanuts as the starlings would keep the nuthatches and smaller woodpeckers away. However, Starlings are still able to reach the seed/peanuts in the center. The spaces are big enough for finches but not nuthatches which is what I bought this for.If you're hoping for a peanut feeder to keep starlings out, this isn't it. Anyone on here who says "it works, no starlings" hasn't seen starlings on this feeder. I promise, they're getting in with minimal effort. If the design was improved to keep ALL black birds out and allow nuthatches, not just small finches, this could of easily been more than 2 stars. Unfortunately looking nice and easy to clean/fill is not why I bought the feeder.

More of a squirrel toy than squirrel resistant
It took the squirrels about 2 minutes to figure out how to release the locking mechanism on this feeder. I used wire to tie down the locking mechanism and, over the course of several more days, the squirrels eat away at the plastic bottom and has virtually destroyed the feeder.Even when I was able to keep the squirrels out of the theater, they were very effective at hanging on to it and bouncing up and down to make all of the peanuts fall out of the wire mesh tube. The design seemed to be well thought out. However, I don't think it was ever tested with live squirrels. Those little demons are incredibly smart and resourceful. I would not buy this feeder again or recommend it to my friends.

Good Concept. We'll see if it works.
Just got this. Openings seem a little small for unshelled peanuts, but time will tell. Maybe the birds can peck at them and get them out in pieces. We'll see. If the birds can get the nuts out, but the critters can't get in, it will be excellent, and that's why I rated 5 stars.

Great Feeder
Added an Aluminum D-Ring Locking Carabiner to prevent squirrels from opening lid and it has worked great. Love the Nuttery feeders.

Not chipmunk proof but so far squirrel proof
This is a very well-made feeder and has kept the squirrels out but the chipmunks just climb inside the cage and eat all the seed and keeping all my birds away. I really wish someone would make a chipmunk proof birdfeeder but I doubt that’s possible. I’ll just have to put out a separate birdfeeder and hope chipmunks just eat from that one. If you don’t have a chipmunk problem this is probably a great feeder

Nuttery NC015
The chickadees, nuthatches and juncos like this feeder. They like being able to perch in many places and have their pick of seed. This thing has proven itself to be squirrel proof and they are not able to reach through to the seed. The squirrels were not able to damage it due to the steel construction and cage. I have lost a feeder in the past due to squirrels and a lot of seed, but not with this one. The lid provides complete coverage to keep the seed dry and water runs right off of it due to the steep angle. It is heavy and this is worth considering if hanging from a small branch. I have been limited to using black sunflower seed with this, as other seed is either too large or too small and falls through. There will be a mess underneath it, so not very wise to use close to the house.UPDATE: The squirrels have figured out how to open this feeder's latch. A paperclip tied around the latch seems to prevent that. For this reason it is now 4 star.
