Great book; helpful content for patients, family of patients, researchers, amphetamine critics, and amphetamine enthusiasts
This is a great book and an easy read. I've struggled with very severe anxiety and depression since I was a teenager. Have gone to many doctors who have given me many diagnoses and many meds. It was not until age 39 that my current doctor--who is actually a psychiatric nurse--was able to listen to me and think out of the box enough to give me an ADD screen and try me on Vyvanse. Vyvanse has been a bit of a miracle drug in a lot of ways, but I've had a lot of questions about this drug, and some concerns about how it works, its safety, and why its effects from day to day seem a little inconsistent. This book has been extremely helpful and also very interesting. It is a great resource for ADD sufferers, friends and family of ADD sufferers, people using amphetamines (by perscription or recreationally), and persons researching the topic.

Great book
A fascinating read for anyone who wants to learn more about amphetamines. The author has carefully shown many sides of the story from ethical, medical and political standpoints. If you or someone close to you is on these drugs, this will give you a very well rounded perspective. Considering the technical nature of some parts of the content, the author has done a great job of making the book readable (for those who do not regularly read technical/academic books and papers this book may seem a little dry at times, but that is the nature of the content.)Many people make their judgments on medications based on things they heard from friends or saw on TV or the internet. As a result they are often making decisions based on very little actual real information. If you are debating the merits of amphetamines for treatment, this book will equip you with the knowledge you need to make a decision in a rational way.

Lots of stuff I didnt know
I have severe ADHD and have been doing stimulants of one type or another for 25 years. Why, then, did I not know most of this? Could it be that my doctors failed to tell me things I needed to know. I promise you, if you are a sufferer of ADD/ADHD you need to have this book.

Fantastic, intriguing read about a very real, very pressing issue.
Such a fascinating book, especially being someone who is adhd-pi, and especially being someone who is adhd and prescribed these medications. For the price, it's definitely worth picking up or purchasing this book, especially if these issues relate to your life in any particular because this book will help you come to alot of new realizations, as it did in my case.

Extremely informative and well-written
My son was recently diagnosed with ADHD. As a mother, I was concerned with his success in school but at the same time I was also wary of a drug solution. This book informatively presented both sides of the argument in favor of and against the use of amphetamines to treat ADHD. A great read for any mother out there trying to get more information

Very Helpful
At last, a book that explains both the pros and cons of amphetamine use in a way that's both interesting and easy to understand. For anyone with ADHD or who's considering the use of psychostimulant drugs, this book is very helpful.
