Good knife very happy just wish it was assisted open
Blade holds an edge nicely (I’m not easy on knives), the grip feels good in the hand and the lock functions great. I only wish it was assisted open. It opens pretty good, but I like a nice spring action. Other than that, I really don’t have anything to say. It’s my first Cold Steel knife l, but I really like it. I’m coming from a Kershaw blade. The first one I had I loved, but I lost it and replaced it with the same kind (again I loved it) and the blade was far less good. Wouldn’t stay sharp. This was about 3-4 years later so maybe they aren’t made as good. Moving to this Cold Steel it has held up well. The blade was pretty sharp out of the box. I honed it just a bit and then stropped it and it’s been good for about 5 weeks. It’s just now needing to be sharpened up. The lock feature is nice, it’s my first one, I’m of the kind that if you’re worried a blade might force closed on you then you need a different tool. So I honestly forget about it a lot. Used it twice just messing around testing it and I feel like you would have to catastrophically break the knife to make the lock break.

Excellent knife for the money with flipper quick open
I have a number of knives from Benchmade, Cold Steel, Gerber, Henry, Kershaw, Puma, and SOG. With few exceptions, Cold Steel knives are made in Taiwan. I'm impressed with their innovative design, quality production and reasonable prices. The Crawford Model 1 is well made and is more comfortable with the clip removed. The flipper mechanism is similar to that found on knives from Kershaw and SOG. A fair amount of force is needed to open it, but I'm hoping it will be easier after oiling it. A slide mechanism to keep the knife open seemed like an after thought. It was difficult to open and didn't seem to provide much value. To me, the knife's advantages make this a good value and great every day carry.

If you like the design, it's the usual Cold Steel 5-star product; just not my cup of tea
There are only two Cold Steel knives I've bought sight unseen, then regretted: the unconventional Night Force low-budget liner-locking Recon knock-off; and this one. And actually, now that I've pulled out the Night Force, it's really not that bad - I think I prefer the edge lock over the pre-TriAd lockback "version". Here's what I don't like: - That big shiny blade. Why not satin? - The pukey green rubber inset in the FRN plastic handle - strange shape and color. Overall handle effect looks either cheap or like a toy, although of course it is neither. Functionally, a solid grip. - The nearly impossible to flip, flipper action. I still have a strong grip and sometimes I can't get it open. In terms of convenient deployment forget it, unless you are from the madly strong chimp faction on Planet of the Apes. At least the flipper won't be accidentally triggered as happened on my Luzon. On the other hand if you can't open it with the flipper, the blade portion above the handle edge is too slippery to grasp and open that way. Second production run, the detent for the blade needs some adjustment. Overall, flipper functionality varies from subpar to useless in an ostensibly "tactical" design. - The flipper tab is pretty long, and combined with the wide handle makes for a wide knife in the pocket. - As is common with Cold Steel pocket clips, the darn thing is impossibly tight. If an ogre from Attack on Titan picked you up by the feet and shook everything out of your pockets, this Crawford 1 isn't going to shake loose. On the other hand in an emergency you'll probably have a tough, to impossible, time extracting it with one hand - especially if the flipper tab catches on anything. There are some real good points as well (I mainly object to the style, not the quality): + Although not dirt-cheap like the Pro Lite series, this IS a designer blade (Wes Crawford, son of knife pioneer Pat Crawford). + Compared to Y2K pricing, quality, features, this IS dirt cheap even at current $37 Amazon pricing. + Assuming you can get it out of your pocket AND open before your assailant dies of boredom, this undoubtedly has a high "tactical" functionality, the ergonomics are right up there with Emerson's. + I've had doubts for years about a bad grip or slip in grip accidentally disengaging conventional liner locks. This very inexpensive albeit well-made Cold Steel solves the problem with an easy-to-operate slide safety. However, the slide is on the palm side (assuming you are right-handed) and requires re-gripping to reach the slide bar. So I see little value in high-stress "tactical" situations. On the other hand in typical "knife failure" tests on YouTube from BladeHQ I've yet to see a tested liner-lock actually slide off the rear of the blade and allow the blade to close more than an inch or too. + As I sit here writing this, I'm tempted to send this into Cold Steel for a warranty inspection. I know we are all stuck with impossibly tight Cold Steel pocket clips, but my Luzon is buttery smooth opening, as is my Ti Lite, this Crawford 1 shouldn't be so problematic. Cold Steel stands by its products is the main point. + Made in Taiwan, still the gold standard along with Seki City Japan, but let's face it if quality is assured by the American designer/distributor, China quality is also superb these days. What I like about Taiwan/Japan is the complete lack of any doubt about any step in the materials, manufacturing, and quality control process - Japanese steel is consistently blended and hence always a known quantity, high quality FRN won't be switched out to a no-name new supplier, even screws are consistently high quality. Japanese and Taiwanese machining, hot/cold tempering is superb, factory edge sharpening rivals custom hand sharpening. Yeah I think overall we can loosen the clip, sand down or epoxy fill the rubber panel under the clip, but if your model arrives as difficult to open as mine, you should get a replacement or wing it and send it in for warranty adjustment. The difficulty of opening is a non-starter. I accepted the hard-to-unlock early TriAd locks, but a "tactical" knife that needs a vice and gloves to open is not acceptable.

The blade is is easy to fly open. It has an extra safety you can slide over for security, even though you don't need it, it's up to you. The blade comes sharp but I sharpened it a little more anyway, the blade is made by cold steel so it's exalent, while the blade is open it has a guard to prevent fingers accidently getting cut. There is no play in the blade while open or shut. Overall a great knife!!!

Love...Love this knife!!
Love...Love this knife. Heavy duty blade and fast deployment with the flipper. One reviewer said the handle looks cheap. Totally disagree with this statement. Of course this is subjective but I find the knife very attractive and well made...especially at this low price point. This knife can be used for light bushcraft duties without a problem. Love the liner lock feature, doesn’t interfere with operation at all. And did I say it was sharp? You can shave with mine right out of the box. Buy one...you will be very happy with it.

Great Knife!
I've had this knife for a few months now and I still love it. Delivery was good time. Nice small package. No damage. Was sharp enough to slice paper easily right out of the box. Easy to sharpen. Holds a decent edge. I've been used to carrying a folding knife with the thumb stud and wasn't sure how the opening system would work, but I was amazed at how smooth it was! So easy and clean to just flick it open. Very good functionality. The only problem was that the pocket clip was a little bit tight, but that's better than too loose. I just stuck I tiny wedge under it for some time, and now I can slide it easily enough off and on my pocket. I use the knife primarily for opening boxes at my work place and other random tasks that could use a sharp blade. Don't know how well it can take a hard beating, but very good for every day use. Definitely recommend this product! Good job, Cold Steel!

Alles in allem volle Kaufempfehlung.
