White Sage California Smudge Cluster Herb Incense Bulk, 1 lb

Scent: First, the scent (most important to me) is awesome. I could smell it through the Amazon box...nice...took pics for y'all and put some in to burn....it's as Sagey as Sage gets for the Alpinia variety. Quality: Almost all branches (see pics). Very little "shake", dust or whatever. So far, NO ROCKS, TWIGS, or other foreign objects that isn't sage...perfect Value: Oh yeah!! I have a 6" smudge stick that weighs 2oz (see pics)...I bought a pack of several to get a better price but still paid much more per ounce the the 1lb or 16oz of this equal if not superior sage product. If you burn sage you may not care about price as much as preparation....I like getting the best deal I can and this works as I don't like the smudge wands. I hope the evil spirits still respect it and it will clear everything??!!!LOL I do pay to get my oil changed though...whatever. Dimensions of packaging were 15" x 15" x ~6" in a clear plastic bag with a nice descant packet (you DON'T want moisture as it will Pop and Crackle and you'll probably Snap if a burning piece gets on/ruins something valuable). They could have compacted it for a smaller ship box but they didn't...very nice presentation. Lots of large sized cut branches which is great if you want to "roll your own" smudge sticks probably could make some 8" sticks/wands, some smaller...whatever). Seriously, If you want smudge sticks as a result of this purchase, it will probably take time to get what you could buy for a little more money...but if you put your heart/creativity/soul/love into it and Dateline is on....go ahead...or make the kids do it...or it could be a labor of love...maybe add a little nutmeg or something because you're special that way. I burn sage in a Bakoor burner (bought here for under $20) and it's nicer for me that way so I can just burn a pinch (lots of scent in a pinch still). I do miss pretending I'm lighting the Cheech and Chong "Up In Smoke" smudge stick to get the smoke alarm test underway...then wait for it to burn out while keeping an eye on it...or stick it in sand.....tip, if you do use a burner, I recommend covering the burner (I use foil to cover it but leave a tiny vent) so it completely burns to ash...otherwise you have to keep stirring it or wind up with charred branches. All that being said, I may have preferred "shake" to whole branches (see pics but VERY LITTLE "shake" or dust in the bag.....NO STICKS, ROCKS etc)...so I crush it up and my fingers smell all sagey for a little bit. I hope this review is helpful. I recommend this over ANY sage I have ever bought/burnt and I have picked fresh in SO CAL. If this company makes smudge sticks/wands that you want I would buy them. If I need smudge sticks I would now change brands to this over the very respectable and consistent Govinda brand resins/herbs I use daily. BTW, maybe a little of this will jazz up that stuffing around the holidays!

I purchased 2 bags for ritual cleansing and they arrived much quicker than expected. (Even before an order purchased 2 days prior) I practice healing and cleansing rituals regularly and burn to purify as well as comfort, empower, and pay tribute. This herb is a powerful olfactory stimulant that evokes memories of home and conjures our inner strength. This sage lived up to its expectations, it was not super crushed nor too dry to effectively perform rituals. I've purchased loose sage in the past that would not hold embers and would only produce small amounts of smoke. This IS white sage, I am highly familiar with the look feel and scent of white sage both lit and in tact; as well as desert sage and deviner's sage. I'm not sure what other people have received, but what I got was as described. I ordered mine from nessastores. I could even recognize the familiar odor as soon as I picked up my parcel. These were decent sized clusters claiming to be harvested from this season (Claims the farm picks weekly, however that does not mean my bags were picked last week, though I received what I would consider fresh.) If you are looking for something you can personally wrap into the popular smudge stick bundles you will be disappointed. Those bundles are tied THEN dried and are produced from full stems, not small clusters like these. Though this sage burns very well and has a very relaxing and welcomed aroma. I would highly recommend this and would happily patronize the seller I received my sage from.

This is only the first time I've purchased this company's white sage. So I don't know if I just lucked out with receiving a fantastic bag of it, or if its quality will remain consistently fantastic every time I buy it. For now, I am SO IMPRESSED that I plan to ONLY buy this kind of sage for as long as it's available. I've been a counselor and shamanic practitioner for four decades. So I've used a LOT of different kinds of sage for smudging in my office as well as in my home. White sage is my favorite kind of sage, so I use it exclusively. Recently, my favorite herb store in Seattle closed, so I reluctantly turned to the Internet to buy white sage online. I say "reluctant" because I knew this meant I couldn't see the sage before buying it. I researched all the options online (there are a TON of companies that sell white sage!) and finally settled on this company. When I received my first package of it, my initial response was to notice how HUGE the package was! At one pound's worth of dried sage, you can see from the photo that the bag was more than a foot long. The best thing about this sage, though, is that it lights EASILY and then CONTINUES TO BURN while you smudge. Those of you who are familiar with smudging know that many forms of sage resist being lit, and then it goes out so fast you have to keep relighting it. Not so with this white sage. I have been using this sage daily for weeks now and it passes all my tests for lighting, burning, and quality/clarity of smoke. It will take a long time for me to use up the huge package I bought, but if the next package is as fantastic as this one, this company will have a customer for life!
