Index is incorrect
The book itself is detailed and well written; however, if you would like to do a quick search on a particular topic by looking for the page number in the index, you will find that many of the page numbers are incorrect. As someone who frequents the index, this is a major negative.

Confusing and Wrong
Sorry to the seller if this affects them. It's not their fault, purely the fault of the authors.I bought this book for a Medical Laboratory Science class because it was required. I am very disappointed by its quality, ins several respects. The organization is very confusing. Concepts will be introduced, and not explained until later. A paragraph format will suddenly change to a bullet point format, with no rhyme or reason, and two of the bullet points separated by several other bullet points will explain the exact same concept in different words, but without further clarifying anything. This does not seem intentional, but a mistake on the part of the authors.I encountered typos and ungrammatical statements constantly. It gives the distinct impression that the authors are not native English speakers--which is fine, until you try to learn complicated concepts from them. Most importantly, the book was just WRONG about certain things. Fortunately I have already taken genetics, because I recognized these falsehoods, but a student new to the subject may not. Perhaps the most egregious example was when discussing 5-bromouracil, the authors describes its mechanism of causing mutations 3 different ways. The in-text explanation, the first illustration, and the second illustration all explained it differently. Only one of the illustrations was correct, the other illustration, and what the author wrote were both wrong in different ways. That is really unacceptable for a concept that is so simple, but can really confuse students, and is likely to show up on exams.Honestly, if this text is required reading for you, and it's still as cheap as when I bought it, you may as well rent or buy just to keep up in class. But be prepared to second-guess everything that it says, and ideally rely as much as you can on lecture.
