Quality
We were looking into the bottom of our water glasses and finding white crap from our silicone molds all the time. I did some research and found out there is a lot af bad stuff in our pots ,pans and now ice trays. After thinking about it for a while, we remembered old school ice trays our grandparents had and looked on amazon. We still think the price is to high. Should be no more than maybe $25 for both of them. We decided to splurge after reading reviews. Very sturdy handles do not even flex when waiting one minute and a half. Ice comes out perfectly with no draining just like grandmas. We will be getting more of these.

Best I've used.
This is definitely the best ice tray I have ever used so far. I usually wait for a relatively long time to write any review, but this one warrants a review after just a few days of use. Perhaps my habit of not filling ice tray more than 3/4 full helped too, but I was very happy how easy the ice released from the tray. Zero residue is great. I have a home water distiller and even so other ice trays needed cleaning often to remove residue, not this stainless steel ice tray. Also, the ice seems to freeze clearer - nice bonus, I thought that was only achieved by slow freezing... hmm I am very happy with this purchase.

This ice-cube tray works really well -- I'm so happy I bought it!
I'm thrilled to have a plastic-free ice-cube tray. It works great. There's a bit of a learning curve, but it soon becomes routine and easy. I keep large metal bowls of ice cubes in the freezer, as the kids go through a lot of ice! I fill the tray about half-way full, freeze the ice, pull out the frozen tray and put it on a towel on the counter, and let it sit for a couple of minutes while I do other work. The ice usually makes a gentle popping sound when it's starting to melt, at which point I try the handle. If it's still tough then I wait another minute. Just be careful not to push too hard and slam your knuckles on the metal. Once the ice comes loose I immediately put it in the bowls in the freezer... It's important not to let any ice sit out because it starts melting and then the cubes stick together. I haven't tried other metal trays but I'm really pleased to have this one!

Works great, but the ice cubes crack a bit to much
Kept hearing about the old metal ice trays - we had them when I was a kid. I bought this one after reading a lot of reviews that said the handle used to release the ice was flimsy on the other trays. This one has worked for us - the only issue is the ice cracks up a bit and you don't have nice cubes like we do with the plastic ones. If that doesn't bother you, then it's definitely a good ice tray - if you want nice cubes, this probably isn't the right tray for you.

Heavy-duty and sturdy SS ice cube trays
These old-time trays work great! - much better than plastic! I'm sure that attempting to use the handle to break the cubes free before separating the bottom SS tray from the ice is the reason some users break handles. You only need to run a little cold tap water on the bottom of the SS tray (don't get any water on the ice itself) to break the bottom tray free from the ice inside - and I mean very little. You are not trying warm the bottom of the tray enough to melt the bottom layer of ice within the tray! - only to change the temperature of the tray a little from the ice inside so that the SS expands slightly while the ice does not. The ice should remain entirely frozen and dry throughout the removal process. Sometimes you will hear a pop when the tray and ice separate, but you will always be able to slide the ice as a solid unit within the tray after separation. Only then is it time to hold the far end of the SS cube section down while pulling the handle back to crack out the cubes. Don't overfill the tray with water - a little more than 1/2 full is fine.

great but difficult to remove
these are great yet there is a specific timing involved in leaving out frozen cubes and then removing them from tray - its kinda tricky and the full cube often does not cone out leave it too long & water mixes in with cubes

The steel is firm and rigid, it will no doubt create the most rigid ice
When you touch the stainless steel you are immediately transported to a world of bliss that can only be sustained with the rigid and firm shape of this ice tray standing tall at attention when it is held in one’s hand…. Firmly If you are wondering, do I need this? Consider this, do you enjoy I’ve made so firm and riding that it changes your perception of pleasure on a level rarely experienced in this plane of existence? Do you want you beverages to be cold, stimulating and arousing? Do you just like cold things, to the point that makes you very, very excited? Buy it, enjoy it, embrace it, use it to feel what true cold steel feels like. Makes great ice cubes!

Doesn’t work great.
Although I appreciate not using plastic, this thing is not very practical. It’s difficult to operate the lever, and the ice cubes just end up shattering into a bunch of small pieces.

Excellent product. Freezes faster than plastic ones. I was nervous buying this because this one and other brands have mixed reviews about the release handle breaking or the rivets eventually breaking but after doing some research many people mentioned you need to let this thaw a tiny bit (2-4 minutes) on the counter or run some water on the underside for 5-15 seconds to slightly thaw it before you use the release handle to crack the ice. Made 8 trays worth of ice already in 2 days, works like a charm. I'm getting a second one to replace the final plastic ice cube tray I have.

Same ice cube makers from my childhood. Trying to get rid of plastics and was happy to find these. No odd taste, just clear, fresh ice. Easy to remove with the lever. Yes, they are expensive, but they are sturdy and will last a long time. I purchased two so I always have an extra one while the other is being filled. I am not fussy about perfectly shaped ice cubes but if that is important to you, yes, it is helpful to let the ice sit for a few minutes before pulling the handle and to not fill the tray with too much water.

ice cubes are a lot of trouble to break loose as they are frozen in and solid. Leaver action not to good. Need more muscle power than I got, to break free.

I have always hated ice cube trays: they are finicky, make the ice taste weird, and often break if you struggle to get the ice out. I haven't used ice cube trays for years until I learned about these stainless steel ones and decided to try one out. LOVE IT. So easy to use and the ice tastes great. I make ice in the tray and then dump it into a little container in the freezer so that I can make more so we always have some on hand. It's also fun to make flavoured ice with dried roses, bits of mint, etc. Finally, we can have ice again.

I got metal because I didn't like plastic. However, the ice is impossible to get out with a large amount of pressure or if you run it under water. If you run it underwater, then it melts a bit and is impossible to store as the water begins to freeze all the ice cubes together when you put it back. This is such a headache. I've also gotten cuts tryna get the ice out without running it under water because I wanted to store the ice without it freezing together in another container. Just don't get it.
