Too Many Meat/Fish/Poultry Based Recipes
Given many Buddhists are vegetarian, I expected a predominance of (if not entirely) vegetarian recipes in a cookbook called Buddha Bowls. Instead, over half of the recipes in Buddha Bowls are meat, poultry, or fish/seafood based. Simply changing the dish's protein to vegetarian does not mean the dish will be as inspired or flavorful as the original recipe. Making delicious, unique dishes centered on vegetables and plant-based proteins is an art, not just a matter of swapping proteins. The fact I am disappointed with this cookbook, however, is mostly on me. I did not notice the "Look Inside" feature was available for this cookbook. If I had "looked inside," I would have seen the table of contents shows only two chapters for vegetable and fruit dishes, compared to three chapters for meat, poultry, and fish recipes.

A Must purchase, for newbies and middling level cooks interested in Buddha Bowls alike!
This is a large very comprehensive book on Buddha bowls. If you are new or just curious and starting out it's a MUST buy!Very easy to digest it takes you through the basic sauces and ingredients, even teaches you how to make non-gluten rice if that is something you are interested in. There some really good recipes if you like to follow rule by rule, while still allowing for the more creative person to exchange or interact with the recipe as they see fit. This book will give you a very grounded understanding of Buddha bowls, a nice selection of recipes, and a foundation of knowledge on how to create your own recipes. There are not a lot of pictures. There are enough to make the book pretty and ones for certain recipes but if you have to see a thing before you can make it some of these will be harder to follow. The instructions are very simple but some people are just visual learners. There is SO much this book has to offer, and it is a nice sturdy book. Ignore the damage in the pictures at the bottom that was done by my local UPS who must have forced the bloody thing into the mailbox with their foot I swear because I could barely get it out! This was well packaged and should have gotten to me in pristine condition. It arrived on time. And was a steal at under nine dollars!

Take some time, but DEEEEEEEELICIOUS!
This book was just what I was looking for - page after page of healthy and delicious real-food meals. They can be time consuming (lots of ingredients, lots of chopping), but I found some shortcuts the 2nd or 3rd time I made a recipe. It's great if you can make 2 bowls in one week that use the same sauce, just double it early in the week and have the leftover sauce later in the week! This is NOT a vegetarian book, but many of the recipes explain how you can adjust the recipe to make it vegetarian/vegan/etc. (and just use common sense - sub tofu for the meat). My favorite bowl so far is the shrimp summer spring roll bowl. So, so good.

Cheap and delicious!
I can't believe this book was only $4! It's well done, hardcover, has good pictures, although not quite enough pictures because I'm high maintenance, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. Still, the recipes are all awesome and easy to make. I've made a few so far and am very happy with them!

Delicious, healthy, and fun!
My family has loved this book so much - it has become part of our weekly rotation. We now have "Tuesday Night Buddha Bowls" each week and love that the theme is the same but there are so many creative options to choose from, including easy weeknight recipes. The sauce section is really fantastic and when I have it together enough we do some sauce or veggie prep on Sunday to really make pulling together one or two of the bowls during the week super easy. The kids also love to help pick the recipe for the week and then layer on the toppings or sauce themselves. Big hit!

Creative and delicious meals for everyone.
I absolutely love this cookbook. The creative and varied dishes really satisfy - from vegan to meats. As exciting are the bowls for breakfast and dessert, which takes the creativity to a new level. My favorite meat dish is the Harisa Chicken Bowl, a real feast with wonderful flavors. For dessert, it’s the strawberry banana nice cream bowl. Lastly, I can’t overstate the value of the chapter on basic sauces and dressings. These recipes are key to mixing it up with the bowls and making sure every meal is new and delicious.

Paradigm shift
To me this is a paradigm shift book. It brings to me and our family a whole new way of cooking healthy, simple, satisfying, and affordable meals. It's what I needed to take me to the next step in healthy, doable, and likable cooking without any real ethnic bent. Just good, healthy, simple but way beyond the ordinary in terms of creative potential. Awesome. Congrats to the author!

Delicious Meals
Some of the ingredients had to be bought at an asian store but otherwise the ingredients can be found in your local grocer store. I have tried about 5 different bowls now and they have all been delicious and easy to prepare. I enjoy the healthy nature of all of them.
