Theses are good to stay outside in rain?

I have these lanterns and used them indoors for the last couple years. They are in every way made for indoor use. Now with that said can you bring them out to use of course you can but would say that you would be tossing them the first time left in rain.

Yes, the top can be opened. A simple snap-in installation on the top.

Can this be assembled without the glass ?

You can take the top off carefully and remove the glass.

The battery compartment does not open. We have bought these sort of lanterns before and never had this problem. Please advise?

Mine had small phillips head screws holding the battery doors closed.
