How does belt replacement go on these. Have a 3m currently and it's impossible to depress to install the new belts?

I have had no issues with removal or replacement of the sanding belts on the Astro 3036 Belt Sander. There is a small lever on the side to lock the front roller in place while you are compressing it. This small lever lock the front roller in place so you can remove the old belt and replace it with a new one. You would than release the small lever to allow the front roller to spring back into position.

What size air tank is required/recommended to run this sander?

This is a great tool for a vast variety of jobs. very powerful, but you at not going to run this tool very long on a small pancake type compressor. a minimum requirement would be a least 3 hp with 40 gal tank for regular home owner use. 5 hp two stage would be better. if you don't have the air this tool will not perform as intended.
