Review: Great book for a soon to be big sister - We got this book for our daughter during our second pregnancy and we loved having it. It was the perfect level for our 2 year old, talks about the concepts that are important and helped her understand what was happening in mommy's belly. We had a hard time getting her to understand the concept of a new baby coming and this book helped her build the vocabulary to be able to get excited about baby brother coming. Review: the beautiful, clear language and the sense of 'big girl-ness' ... - My daughter absolutely adores the Lola books. After enjoying Lola at the Library we skipped ahead and ordered this. It's been requested and read to her so many times that she can actually 'read' it by heart now. Even though she is still an only child she really loves it. The illustrations, the beautiful, clear language and the sense of 'big girl-ness' that Lola takes on as a big sister is appealing to any child. Not to mention that as a mother of a beautiful black girl, it is heartening that there are books like this. I'm definitely going to buy the others in the series!

The best sibling book!
I was looking to add more diverse children's books to my library and stumbled on this absolute gem! I've gotten a lot of sibling books to help my daughter prepare for our new arrival, and this is the best! It offers practical ways parents and siblings can keep strong connections and make everyone feel loved when the baby comes. It is the sweetest sibling book, and I am so glad I have it!

Our favorite big sister book
I bought my daughter several big sister books before her brother was born. This is far and away her favorite and the one that we've continued to read over a period of months. The pictures are bright and colorful and the story is easy to follow. The things the author highlights match up really well to my daughter's observations and questions. For example, her most common observation is that her brother "cries a lot" and the book does a good job of explaining why that might be the case and giving the big sister something to do to help.

Great big sister book for book lovers
We love this big sister book for my daughter who loves to read. It goes through the process of Lola's mom being pregnant, going to the hospital for the baby to be born, and reading to baby brother Leo after he is born. The book is very positive about being a big sister, but also includes text about how the baby sleeps a lot and how babies are a lot of work. I also appreciate that the characters are people of color.

Before baby #2 arrived I prepped my two year old with this story at bed time on the regular and I think it helped. Now that the baby has arrived we still read this book and draw comparisons to real life. It’s a great story and easy to read.

Sehr schönes, kindgerechtes Buch! Unser Sohn liebt es. Wir übersetzten es beim Vorlesen immer frei. Schön wäre es deshalb auch auf Deutsch!
