Is this actually made of steel or is it plastic painted with shiny metallic paint like another one I bought here (that also claimed to be steel)?

The chrome (shiny) parts are metal- it is sturdy and well-made. Best opener I have ever had out of dozens I have tried. And, the included foil cutter actually cuts foil easily- imagine that! Every other foil cutter I have ever had was junk- this one rocks. You will be happy with this.

Sorry, I don't remember what the warranty is but this opener is very sturdy and should be durable over time. Hope this helps.

I bought one of these in january and used it approx. 1 time per week and it is broken. what is the warranty on this? can i get a replacement?

cork screw became unattached. Can it be replaced?

The foil cutter is small -- about an one inch across -- and should have come separately in the box. You rub the cutter's little wheels just under the lip of the bottle top to open up the foil top so that you see the top of the cork. The cork crew is not supposed to become unattached. Perhaps try forcing or screwing it back into its base might work.
