Great sofabed mattress. Would also be a great mattress topper, except sofabeds are shorter than a full-size bed.
A very nice mattress, but a few caveats: It might be a bit wider than your couch's old spring mattress. Or maybe it's that foam bulges more than an innerspring when flexed. With a waterproof cover and sheets on it, I have to be more careful that they don't get caught in the mechanism when opening or closing. My couch has a fabric pad (canvas sheet) supporting the cushions, and when the bed is open, it supports the lower third of the mattress (your knees and feet). So I don't feel the bar at the 1/3 point much to begin with. But I feel it less -- just a tiny bit if I focus on it -- than I did with the old mattress. This has a velour-like cover that zips to be fully removed. However, the attached tag says that both the mattress and the foam should be "spot-cleaned" only -- no washer or dryer. As for sinking in or heat, my place is air conditioned and I'm reasonably slim, so no complaints there. I have a thin waterproof-fabric/fill pad on it, which might also regulate heat a bit? As an occasional side-sleeper, I sink just enough and don't bottom out. My only complaint is that it's made in China. I had planned to buy a second, similar one (that one made in the US) to use as a topper on my own bed, but then realized that a full-size mattress is 3 inches longer than this sofabed mattress. If one of them made a 75-inch version, I'd buy it in a minute. This one I suppose, because it's gel. Just the same, I put the old mattress back in the sofabed for awhile and tried sleeping on this, as a topper for an inexpensive, fairly firm innnerspring mattress, all on a box spring firmed up with some boards. The result is great, if a bit jiggly overall. And apparently it's not so odd an idea -- the bottom of the cover has non-slip beads, which makes sense for use on a mattress, no sense for use on raw sofabed springs. (Maybe other sofabeds have fabric? Or this is marketed elsewhere as a topper?) Unfortunately, Classic Brands doesn't state the actual specs of the foams in this and has not responded, so I have no idea how to replicate the results with another product that's meant to be a topper. Anyway, my house guest mentioned that the mattress was very comfortable when used as intended -- in the sofa.

Comfortable even for 215lb fellow
Other reviewers complained about smell, while some reviewers said that there was none. The product's instruction guide says there will be a modest smell that will bother someone with acute smelling ability, and this seems like a fair and accurate description to me (it's not just "new" smell like with a new car...but something less appealing for sure). We let the product air out for several days, with me rolling and sitting on it to help the foam cells release and take in new air, and it still has a slight "new" smell to it that is obviously diminishing over time... and it probably would have done so faster if we had opened it in a room with more air flow as the directions suggest (the mattress is way lighter--30 some pounds--than a regular depth, full-size matress and it can be folded more or less in half so I should have aired it out in the garage). With a mattress pad and nice smelling, clean sheets, I wouldn't think twice about letting a guest (or me) sleep on this if it's had just a few days to air out, but I wouldn't have wanted to sleep on it myself for the first couple of nights after delivery. Regarding mattress size, it is *exactly* what the specifications say it is supposed to be and had poofed out to full size (including being 4.5" wide) within 24 hours despite the room being cool (instructions say it can take longer in cold conditions, but that wasn't the case). Given the comments of some of the older reviews, I am wondering if the company increased the box size at some point so that the mattress isn't so compressed initially. Finally, regarding comfort, it's great. We have a new sofa sleeper, and we decided to replace the mattress before anyone slept on it as it was less comfortable than a fancy, full-size air mattress that we've used for some guests in the past. The foam mattress is a huge step up, and it had the bonus effect of making the new couch firmer, which is something we would have had to pay extra for. Besides having a nice bonus guest bed, we're going to have a couch that lasts a lot longer than would be the case with a traditional couch where the support springs stretch over time. Other reviewers said you can still feel the bars. Even though I weigh in at about 215 lbs, I can't unless I am purposefully digging in with my weight over the top of them. I could happily sleep on this mattress every night, and it is more comfortable than the traditional mattress we have on our bed.

Great replacement mattress!
I see a lot of other people here use it as a topper. That’s something I was not interested in as depending on the size of your sleeper that’s not convenient. Mine is a full and even so I am not lugging that thing up and down stairs. I was thankfully pleasantly surprised. Just for reference I have the Diane couch from Raymour Flannigan and I cannot feel the bar and found it comfortable. My husband who is 190lbs knew it was there but couldn’t feel it in any uncomfortable way if that makes sense. I love it. If your 300lbs might be an issue, the extra weight will no doubt make that bar more noticible, but 200 seems to be fine. Will you wake up with back pain? I mean I’m not sure yet, I’ll try it and get back to you, but if it does I wouldn’t be surprised. It’s a pull out couch they are not meant to be a bed. It’s for here and there use, they have no support. The mattress itself is medium firmness with a plush feeling to it. I was worried it wouldn’t be thick enough but it really is great!

Comfort and value
After days of searching and reading reviews I decided to give this mattress a shot. I usually am hesitant to purchase something based on reviews alone due to the many times I have been duped by what I can only think were fake reviews, but this mattress has so far lived up to the hype. It is comfortable, affordable and was delivered quickly. I did notice the cooling affects it claims to have and it definitely has relieved back pain. I purchased for pull out sleeper couch and have been pleasantly surprised by its quality and comfort. It was not smelly as some reviews have said only smell I noticed was that of shrink wrapping plastic which went away after removing. The mattress expanded nicely in just a few short hours. I do suggest getting a memory foam gel pillow and nice temp control cotton sateen sheets to experience the full effects of the cooling gel foam. Overall I must say it really is a great mattress at a great price. For once I can honestly say the reviews of positivity were correct.

Comfortable & worth the money
I was a little hesitant when purchasing this mattress. It has mixed reviews, but I am glad I tried it out! Super comfortable and it inflated to the correct thickness of 4.5inches! Very comfortable to sleep on excited for my company to try it out!

Comfortable
Bought to replace a mattress on our sleeper sofa. Fits my full size as expected and was thick enough to sleep well without feeling the bars in my back. Folds away without any issues.

Not 4.5 inches
It came in a box as described and I have had it out decompressing for 3 hours and it is definitely not 4.5 inches thick. It is 3. The material is comfortable but I am highly disappointed it is not thickness it states because now I will need to buy a separate topper.

Second review
I left a poor review with this company earlier due to their lack of communication. Due to severe back problems, the mattress did not work for me. I contacted the company twice and didn't hear anything back. After leaving a bad review, they contacted me and corrected the problem. Better late than never! I do believe the mattress would be very comfortable for someone without the back issues I have.
