Dive into the third volume of the bestselling Heartstopper series, a charming LGBTQ+ graphic novel about the ups and downs of young love. Now an acclaimed Netflix series!. Review: These books CANNOT be missed! - Gripped from the first page. I’m not normally a fan of the graphic novel format, but after a couple of pages it had me hooked. I forgot that I was reading a picture/comic book and the heart warming story took over. The book tells such a sweet story of innocent young love with all its shyness, embarrassment, humour and awkwardness and is incredibly relatable for anyone who is or ever has been a teenager with a crush. Beautifully done. It’s addictive reading; both myself and my 12 year old daughter enjoyed the whole series immensely. As a cautious mum, I would highly recommend reading for preteens. It deals with young romance in a sensitive and age appropriate way, encouraging mutual respectful and unrushed, considerate behaviour within relationships. Fantastically refreshing to have the two protagonists as a homosexual couple of young boys, a lesbian couple and a trans girl. Such cute characters and relatable no matter your sexual identity or orientation. Later novels in the series deal with serious topics such as eating disorders and anxiety in a sensible and informative way. Gripping reading with relevant and current themes for a preteen/teen but handled in a safe and cautious way. Not only encourages acceptance of diversity, but makes it impossible not to fall in love with this quirky group of friends and their experiences and adventures. Love love love 🥰 Review: Beautiful Editions of the Heartstopper series - My granddaughter loves the Heartstopper series and these beautiful special editions made her holiday wishlist. The only thing I was not pleased with is they came in a box with no wrapping or bubble wrap around them. The edges were roughed up a little.

A different change of pace to the first two volumes...
Heartstopper volume three follows our Truman-Higgs friends on a trip to the most romantic city on earth; Paris! In volume three, we see some changes to the characters, and more mature and darker themes begin to feed into the main storyline. Whilst exploring the historic sites in France within Chapter 4, we are faced with telling signs of a potential eating disorder, self injury, underage drinking and the first conversations surrounding sex. With a strong focus on the events of teenage years and it’s ups and downs, we get to see more of the Heartstopper Characters aside from our main boys in this volume! With strips dedicated to Tara & Darcy, Tao & Elle - even Mr Farouk & Mr. Ajayi. I know Heartstopper is being consumed by equally a younger audience as it is those of us outside of teenage years, and whilst that fills my heart with joy, it is from the beginning of Volume 3 onwards that I feel the content should be considered when being shared with younger readers; don’t censor it, use it to open conversations! One of the beauty’s of Heartstopper is that it exists in a universe of healing, recovery and courage. I am equally as excited for Volume 4 as I am melancholic; with only one more published Volume, and two novellas, it’s going to be a long wait until Volume 5 comes in 2023! However the Yearbook’s release later this year will satiate the Heartstopper need for a few months…. (All the more reason to re-binge the tv show!)

One of my all time favourite series!
I love this series, I cannot praise it enough. The topics it coversI feel are so relevant from dealing with sexualities at a young age to different mental health issues. It is literally impossible not to fall in love with Nick and Charlie (also they're friends). The characters are all diverse which I love as books should be normalising LGBTQ+ characters and giving them air time. So big up the representation. My bff, who is a member of the LGBTQ+ community has literally given her heart to this series and loves what Alice Oseman has created. These books are super quick to read, I read both Vol 2 and Vol 3 in the same day in a matter of hours, the graphics are easy to follow and you can't help but get attached to the story. When I read these there was two weeks left before Vol4 was released. It's very rare I drop my current read for a just delivered book but you can bet that's what I did for Vol 4. I need more of this series immediately. I highly recommend anyone of any age group reads this series. It has so much potential to help teenagers see they are not alone but also do the same for an older audience.

"There’s this idea that if you’re not straight, you have to tell all your family and friends immediately, like you owe it to them. But you don’t.

It's been a really enjoyable series. The art and panels work so well, it really makes everything feel as if you're floating along on a cloud with these two young people in love for the first time. The dialogue feels so genuine, especially the cute inside jokes. It almost feels like listening in to a private romantic conversation, but it feels so real that my heart soars with the characters. As with the previous volumes, the story does a great job of introducing difficult subjects and dealing with them in realistic and helpful ways that actually act as good examples for teens navigating the confusing process of a first relationship and their unique experience. The author really writes these characters like she knows them. It is just so cute and romantic. I'm excited to watch the new show, but it's hard to imagine it can live up to the comic. This story was made for this medium.
