The Medieval Sword in the Modern World 2nd Edition

Interesting and easy to read. Well explained, especially for a beginner like me. Only thing that detracted, was a couple of pages weren't properly formatted (I think that is the right word) and were quite confusing. However, I could still make sense out of them in the end. Overall, great value for the money!!P.S.The photos are great.

The book itself deserves a five in a paper format but as an e-book it has so many glitches as to be unreadable. I couldn't turn pages, the same page keeps coming up. Had to give up, close book, close app., and sometimes shut off power and reboot to get book to change pages. The text and illustrations are great if you are into modern reproduction swords, especially if your income precludes buying high end swords. He has very practical guides to buying swords and debunks the more misleading claims sword makers make, ie. number of folds to spread carbon through the sword. Modern steel is much more reliable and even than folding could ever hope to achieve. Best book possible if you want to actual hold a sword in your hands, but good luck turning the page!

Michael Pearce is a master sword maker. He provides a great introduction to the modern medieval sword. I bought this to help me make a wise decision in purchasing a sword. Unfortunately, this book did not format well for reading on a IPad. Text does not paginate correctly, some captions are not with their photos and for some reason pages will not advance when you sweep the page. Sometimes it will lock up and you must leave the Kindle app and start over. Content is great, but the Ebook version needs work. Maybe it will do better on a true Kindle. Consider the print version just in case.

Michael Tinker Pearce is a great craftsman and artist. He brought much of his knowledge into this book. This book is very informational and honest. However, the overall design of this book is quite bad. Most of the images are low-res, and texts suffer from many of the design flaws thus the overall reading experience is terrible.

This was a gift and it was exactly what was wanted!!!

This book give a good overall view of swords as they were and as they are now. A good read for those new to the interest in swords.

Comprehensive, readable, with ample photos and written descriptions of each sword and its history. Well done!
