Handy 10480 Center Latch Fifth Wheel Tailgate for Ford F150/F250/F350

I can't imagine a tailgate costing 2-3 times more than this one being any better quality. I first went over this tailgate visually looking for imperfections and could find none. The install on my 2012 F350 SD was very easy. Only had to remove the rubber bumpers at the latch on each side as others have mentioned in their ratings. Even after completely removing these rubber bumpers the tailgate has no play/rattles when latched in the closed position. Makes me wonder why the mfg even installs them.I just installed the DeeZee tailgate assist on this set up and couldn't be more pleased. Easy install, fits neatly, and works perfectly.

The new tailgate looks great on my F250. There is a some fine weld spatter on some of the exterior surfaces, which really would not warrant a full star reduction. I was disappointed, though that the product was received bent along the lower edge near the left side. Upon further inspection it was clear that the packaged product had been impacted (probably dropped) on that corner. It is seems to me that the packaging is really not adequate to properly protect the product if handled roughly during shipping. This is the reason I have rated it at 4 stars instead of 5. I was able to straighten the bent portions without any visible damage and did not pursue return of the product.I installed this on a 2002 Ford F250 Superduty. Installation was pretty easy but did need a little fiddling to get it right. On my truck model, I did need to remove the rubber pads from the latch area of the new tailgate, and also adjust the truck latch pins. With the right size torx bit you can loosen them and adjust them up/down, forward/back to get a nice fit with no rattle (as long as the truck's rubber stops at the top of the bed opening are in good shape). Once I got the tailgate straightened and installed, it looks and works at least as good as new!

I smashed my old tailgate so this was a great replacement at a good price. I had to bend my base pin back into position, then make some minor adjustments to my 2 upper lock pins. The tailgate fits solidly. Installation is straight forward and took less than half an hour. The welds looked good and the black powder coat is nice enough I'm going to leave it.

Install was kind of weird had to move the washers around and it's still not 100% locking into place, but the worst part is just from UPS dropping the box in my gravel driveway(must not have been that hard I was home) it has paint damaged from rock, I'll try to figure out how to paint it but maybe I should have just bought a normal tail gate. Also the middle section is pretty low it looks like it is have way in the picture but was really low when I got it... This was on a 2003 F-250 Super Duty Lariat 4x4

The tail gate is well built, heavier than expected, nice finish. The latch is kinda cheap and uses a light cable but works.Took it out of box, no instructions! Set it in place and would not fit, 1/2 to wide. Has bushings in the bottom, had to cut 1/4 off each one and then it fit. Went to close it and no close. Has rubber stops on each side I had to remove and cut down and epoxy back, closes great now no rattle at all. I like the gate but wish I did not have to work to make it fit. Yes I checked the box and it clearly stated it fit my year truck.

Very heavy steel. I used my original cable straps. It was easy to install. It had bolts on hinges that allowed adjustment to fit my bed. I stand on it and load heavy items on it with no problem. Very fast delivery.

The tailgate fit perfectly on a 2016 Ford F250 with standard cab and 8 foot bed. The installation took about 20 to 30 minutes. We had to remove the rubber blocks in the latch area so it would close. It closes tight and there is no rattling. The blocks must be for some other vehicle that this gate is compatible with. We are very satisfied and would recommend this. We really like the center latch handle.

The tail gate is well made. I did have to adjust both the bottom attach points (loosen with a #50 Torx socket) as well as the top latching lugs. Pretty easy if you have the Torx fitting. One other thing. There is a hard rubber pad backing up the top attach points on the Handy Tail Gate. One customer chose to remove this pad, another suggested using a wood chisle to shave off 1/4 inch. I used a dremmel with rotary burr head to gouge out a relief. I wanted to retain the hard rubber pad for rattle proofing. Worked great.Would have awarded 5 starts but price changed considerably between shopping and reviewing product and ordering.
