The Salt War [Nobody, Joe, Ivester, E.T., Allen, D.] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Salt War Review: Excellent! Joe Nobody is back - Really loved this book. It made me remember why I loved these stories so much. I did not like the story previous to this one at all. But I do love all of them before that one. The characters are likable and believable. People will identify with them. The story has plenty of action, and the plot moves along at a good clip. Human nature is portrayed very clearly. I like books with clear cut heros. We live in a world that truly needs them. Thank you Mr. Nobody for providing them. And please give us more of Terri and Bishop, and the rest of the characters! Review: end of a great story? - I don't know if the whole story ends here or not. If so, I feel satisfied with the ending. This was one of the better books in the series. Fast paced, with good detail while not boring me to death with to many meaningless nuts and bolts. A great book and a great series. Well worth the readers time.

Good book, good series
Good book, good series. The quibble I have is in chapter 9. Grim gets schooled in the ballistics of a .308 round. An SF guy doesn't know all of that, even if he wasn't the weapons sergeant? Impossible. I realize the author wrote that dialogue for the benefit of the readers, but that's quite a stretch. A little weird. It doesn't take anything away from the book though.

The ninth book of nineteen alternate history books about the economic collapse of the USA
The ninth book in a series of nineteen alternate history books about the economic collapse of the USA in 2015 and onward. I reread the well printed and well bound POD (print on demand) trade paperback self published by the author in 2014 that I bought new on Amazon in 2014. I own the first twelve books in the series and am rereading the first ten before my first read of the eleventh book. Um, this series was published in 2011 just as the shale oil and gas boom was really getting cranked up. The book has crude oil at $350/barrel and gasoline at $6/gallon in 2015. Not gonna happen due to oil well fracking in the USA so the major driver of economic collapse in the USA is invalid for the book. That said, the book is a good story about the collapse and failure of the federal government in the USA. The book is centered in Texas which makes it very interesting to me since I am a Texas resident. The $6 gasoline was just the start. The unemployment rises to 40% over a couple of years and then there is a terrorist chemical attack in Chicago that kills 50,000 people. The current President of the USA nukes Iran with EMP airbursts as the sponsor of the terrorist attack. And the President of the USA also declares martial law and shuts down the interstates to stop the terrorists from moving about. That shuts down food and fuel movement causing starvation and lack of energy across the nation. The accumulations of these serious problems cause widespread panics and shutdowns of basic services like electricity and water for large cities. The electricity grids fail due to employees not showing up to work at the plants. Then the refineries shutdown due to the lack of electricity. The story is an sad example of what can happen when resources are short in an area and there is no over-riding legal authority. Tempers fray and people die. Very quick page turner.

Another excellent read by Joe ...
Another excellent read! The action was non stop and the introduction of new characters was refreshing, and the storyline just keep getting better. Bishop and Terri are still my hero's. The story takes place in Texas and Mexico with some new twist and turns. Joe just writes a good book - his storyline is full of twist and turns that keep your attention. So read, enjoy and save a little food.

there are going to be parts of the story that you like and parts that you don't like
When it comes to a book series, I feel that it is wrong to judge a book individually. Each book is just a small piece of the pie. With every story, there are going to be parts of the story that you like and parts that you don't like. You have to judge the series as a whole. The "Holding Their Own" series by Joe Nobody is an exceptional series. The characters are believable and the author portrays them in a way that has you longing for the next book before you even start reading the current book. Like all things, the series will have to come to an end one day. The Salt War continues the harrowing story of Bishop and his family and friends. For most of those reading this review, they have been with this series since the beginning. This book continues the great story that started in book one. For those who are reading this review to decide whether to get involved in this series, I would say don't wait any longer. Every book is worth the price. Some other books in this genre, spread out a series longer than necessary and make the books short and charge more for each book. This series does not do this. There's nothing more to say. Get the book, get the series.

Enjoyed the book
I enjoyed the book and learned a couple of survival tips, but the book did not have the same feel as the earlier books lost steam) As with the last book (this one though better than the last) was just a filler. I hope the author in the future series goes into more scenarios of how craft skills, common sense, decency, and a good work ethic can not only help a person survive, but also to build a better community. This was done in the previous books how about elsewhere? Still looking forward to more books from the author.

Worth both your time and money
I read a lot of this type novel mainly because of the way the world is headed now.. Lots of things I would have never thought about when the SHTF. This has been one of the more enjoyable series I have read so far. You actually start to care about the characters, reason being is that they are not that many and they are filled out with backgrounds. Take time and enjoy some interesting summer reading. I truly believe that this series will become a standard for books of this kind.

Brilliant as usual. Insightful about how prejudices play out and feed on themselves. The politics of small group power struggles throwing good lives after bad. Classic study in what to avoid in that scenario. Joe writes to inform and entertain does both well.

Le dernier de la série.. J'espère. Joe commence a manquer d'inspiration...Les autres jusqu'à l'avant dernier, etaient excellent. J'espère qu'il saura quand s'arrêter et ne pas continuer a étirer la sauce..
