Have loved this book since I was a child.

A perfect book to read to babies and toddlers, the poetry inside has rhymes with meter and rhythm that will be pleasing to both children AND adults. Children ADORE rhymes, the rhythm very much appeals to them, which is why we have nursery rhymes. Unfortunately the sing-songy quality can quickly annoy the heck out of parents who end up reading them over and over and over again, for years.... But rhymes are very important to a child's developmental process. "Now We Are Six" is one you will never tire of reading, AA Milne captures the thoughts of children beautifully. They may have been written during his time period, but there is still a timeless quality to the imaginations and wonders of his poetry. My four children, now adults, grew up with this book and STILL love it. Now their children enjoy it, I provide childcare for my granddaughter and read it to her every single time she comes to my house, and I sent this to my grandchildren in another state. I have also loved passing this book onto other new mommies and daddies in addition to baby shower gifts.

I love this book! The variety of the poems keeps you interested. The final poem is favorite of everyone. My mom bought it for my when I turned 6 many many years ago. And when each of my daughters turned 6, they got their own copy. If they have children some day I hope they pass the tradition down to them as well.

Good writing and fun poetry. But a few of the poems were a little long for a small child to follow and keep interested. On the whole, I like it and will continue to read it to my child. I believe that the poems will grow on her, just like mother goose. I recommend this book.

Ok these is the sweetest set of books. They are old fashioned looking with soft cloth front and rather purposeful uneven page edges—as would the original 1900’s binding appear. I read some reviews that negatively pointed this out, but this is on purpose. If you don’t like the appearance of an old fashioned book than this book isn’t for you. For me, I purchased the entire series, as I adore vintage books and the Winnie the Pooh series. I said I was buying for my children, whom I have read these stories to, but really…these were for me!!

A. A Milne was my favorite author when I was a child! I try to re-read this book every year; It is fun & makes me laugh right out loud! My third grade teacher read this to our class & I found the library in Muskegon, MI where I lived at the time & this was the first book I ever borrowed. I read it to my own children many times! Milne seemed to have a clear understanding of the imaginary world of Christopher Robin & children in general!Even his poetry reflects Milne's understanding of how to delight a child!

Had this book too when I was very young. Shared it with my children. Also gave it to my grandsons. This was a gift for my granddaughter.

Lovely gift for small boy aged six on hhis birthday especially

just wonderful. i loved this little book of poems when i was a kid and don't know what happened to my childhood copy. it was so nice to find it here again. i am enjoying reading these little poems to my adopted 8 year old boy. he is just learning to speak english and he loves the rhythm and sounds of the poems (even if he can't understand all the words yet). this book is true to the original and has all the illustrations too.
