MUPATER Open Top Metal Bird Cage for Small Birds Canary Parakeet Cockatiel Budgie Small Parrot Travel Cage w/Open Top

I had used a similar cage to take my conure to the vet, and to travel in the car when we went on vacation. The old one failed after about 15-17 years of use at a couple 'spot welds', so I searched for a replacement. I selected this product.I was able to assemble it with little effort. I discovered it was easier for me to click the 'loops' over the wires if I kept the cage slightly out-of-square to decrease pressure at the corner. There were instructions, but they could have been clearer.I used it to take the bird to the vet's, and it performed well. It is easy to carry with the bird in it. I had made a tent-like structure out of fabric so she can snuggle into it, like a cave, to feel more secure. I had sewn narrow straps along the top so I could hang it from the top wires, and that worked.When it is time to exit, she will only leave through the highest point of the cage. This cage has an opening at the top, so it is easy for her to get out. My previous cage only had a side door, and I had to tip the cage and hold it horizontal to allow her to find her way out.I found the doors easy to operate. The construction seems adequate for a cage this size. Of course, it is not the strength of her usual much heavier permanent cage. It is adequate for short duration.I leave my cage assembled, but it can be taken apart for storage, if desired. Since it took me about 10-15 minutes to put it together, I prefer to leave it assembled. I will be sure to check the security of the wires of the cage from time to time to be sure they are still securely fastened.I am happy with this cage, and would recommend it to those with a bird (or perhaps even two) the size of a conure, or smaller.

Cage is nice, not for small birds. I constantly have to help my parakeet get his head from getting caught between the bars.

It is big enough for both my love birds to enjoy. Adding more toy space for them as well.
