2/9/26, Product was easy to install on my heated bird bath cord. So far, it's working great. It looks great/blends in with the garden. Looks like the safety & water proofing is working. Won't be able to tell on the durability until the product is used through an actual freeze cycle.

I use it outside for a winter bird bath connection and so far so good. I have accidentally tugged on it and no issues. It is very easy to use and works well with round extension chords. It does not add any length to the connection; just protection and I think light strikes from dogs or other small animals.

Not cheaply made Chinese garbage. It's good, real good. Made in Illinois. That alone you should buy one, leave it in the package and hang onto it as it's going to be worth millions some day. Didn't we offshore the entire US Labor back in the 90's? Leaving us to be a nation of Sellers and Consumers? Ok, back to the item. It works really well. It's not 100% water tight but the pressure and the foam gasket will make it so at the point of connection. I am using it on a 13amp/110v pool pump. If we hardware the pool then the pool needs to be grounded, but in order for us to put a solid ground in we must push 55' of steel rod into the ground. We can't ground it to the house for some reason. So we use an extension cord under the deck, under the stone up to the pool pump. We used a "water tight" Chinese made unit for the last 4 years, replacing it once and sometimes twice a year because... Water would get in and fill up the connector... Offshore manufactures don't have to oblige by their own warranty (seriously folks, read that again when your buying something to TRUST YOUR LIFE WITH let alone spending your money on) - In a nutshell if you build it out of the states (Canada included - Ahem GM) the company is not liable to damages caused by poor engineering or product manufacturing. This however is built very well and right here in the states. We had record rainfall over the weekend (something like 20") and the connector worked perfectly. Didn't blow the breaker or fill with water. Winston Churchill said "all great things have been simple, and all simple things are great". My company philosophy and it follows here as well - simple and works perfectly. I'm buying 4 more just to keep my friends in Il. working. For the first time in a long time I'm pretty sure my $6 was kept in the United States. Weird to think about.

This is a pretty good product that, with a couple of design tweaks, could become a lot more "water tight". The bottom line is that if the product is used in a horizontal position and kept out of standing water, it will keep the connection dry just fine. My problem is that I need to use it in the vertical position. While the sides overlap in such a way that rain is not getting in if it's used horizontally, the conical bits on the end don't overlap, and the holes for the power cords don't have any kind of gasket to seal out water. Thus if you use it vertically there's a big gap around the cord and a crack where the two halves of the clamshell meet. The manufacturer does provide a gasket that goes around the prongs of the male plug, and I suppose the thought is that if it is smashed between the male & female plugs that it provides a degree of watertightness. I am skeptical, which is why I say don't rely on it for standing water situations. However, the design does allow you to screw down on the connection good and tight, so that should help. But since I had to use it in a vertical application, I made sure the larger clamshell was on top (so that rain doesn't work its way between the clamshells), and used plumber's putty to seal up the cord hole and the crack where the two halves meet. Kind of ugly, but good enough. Again, if the manufacturer could just tweak the design to seal up the ends better (and perhaps drop the "water tight" claim), I'd give the product an additional star.

I have never used an extention cord lock before but always worried about the exposed connection between a heated bird bath and the extension cord needed to plug it in. This is a brilliant idea and the design is perfect. It accomplishes its job and is easy to set up. Secure enough to keep snow out.

The name of the company tells you everything. Who knows better about working outside in the fields? This extension cord lock is the only one designed with common sense. The shape alone tells you that it won't get hooked on anything. It screws together so you know that no matter how hard you pull it won't come apart. I've whipped my connected cords around the yard like they were long rope and I have no worries. Works great.

Good concept, but a bit smaller than I expected. Tight fit for exterior cord connections. and screw on cover a bit challenging at first. But does the job.

In years past, I would get really frustrated with our Christmas lights. I would go out in the cold, hang web lights over the bushes, lighted display pieces in the grass, etc. I'd hook them up to a timer and it would all look nice. Then we'd get a decent amount of rain, and suddenly the GFI was tripped and no more lights. After the rain, I found myself out in the cold trying to figure out which connection of cords had gotten too wet and tripped the GFI. Then I took to using household plastic wrap to protect every place that two plugs went together. That worked well, but not perfectly. Inevitably we'd get a decent soaking and there I'd be, poking around in the wet and cold trying to figure out what the heck went wrong THIS time. Inevitably, this would happen the night we had the family over, so we looked like the Scrooges who were too cheap to turn on the lights or too bah-humbug to have put any out. Really ticked me off. Thinking maybe some of the old light sets were the problem, we replaced everything that was more than a season old. Nope, still had trouble when it rained. I think my wife was pretty sure I was turning into the father from A Christmas Story, given all the growling and grumbling erupting from me every time the darned lights went out... I was about ready to give up on Christmas lights. This year, we've minimized. We have a spotlight shining on the front door, two lighted trees on the front porch, and a lighted wreath on the front door. This little contraption is covering the one exposed connection between the timer and the spotlight. So far, the combination has worked every night despite some significant rainfall. Although these little devils aren't cheap, they do seem to do the trick. If you're sick of your Christmas displays going out all the time, you may want to invest in a few.
