Super bit of kit
Great Dab Radio. Compact and easy to set up. Deceptively loud too......

The little radio will receive and play more DAB+ stations than any radio I have owned.
Quite a long aerial but it works and works well, really good value. A few buttons to get used to but the instructions that come with it are very easy to understand. It looks quite pleasing and sounds good for the size and of course you can always plug a bigger speaker in the headphone socket. I am very glad I saw the offer when I did.

okay
Seemed a bit fiddly to get it to work the first time.. couldn't get anything out of it! But I'm hopeless with technology, which is why I actually wanted this radio. Once it is set there is no searching for channels and no hissing with the turning of dials! I can only get the BBC on dab but expected this as I live in a poor reception area. I only want a couple of channels so that's fine, but would need a good memory regarding the instructions of 'press once', 'hold down' 'press quickly a few times'... too much for me! But it's good enough for what I wanted in the kitchen and sometimes in bed. Although the sound is very much lower with the earpiece. It's portable but not pocket size. The protruding stand at the base stops it from falling over but it would be better if this could be hinged so it could be folded in. This would make it easier to fit into a large pocket or bag. Overall, not bad for the money.

Lovely portable radio
Arrived quickly and so easy to set up. Just switch on press Mode for Dab and it automatically scans the stations for you. I bought this as my old radio only had Dab and I needed Dab+ for certain stations I like to listen to. It is light and compact, and has a very good long aerial. Looks great too. Some reviewers have mentioned that it is not as slim as it looks, as it comes out in a triangular shape at the base. However once you have it positioned it looks slim. I have mine either on window sill or dressing table, and it looks lovely. Without the deeper base it would topple over with the aerial fully extended. I find that the longer aerial is good for when signal is impacted in rainy/stormy weather. Just extend right out and redo automatic tuning to get good signal again. I live in a valley, where radio signal is not great, but this radio gives me good reception.

Mono sound and flat acoustics
The positives:* It works reliably and is easy to use. It's lightweight.* The buttons are small, but still very easy to work with. The negatives:* All the radio stations on DAB, DAB+, and FM are in mono, not stereo. This applies even for the headphones. This is a big limitation that's not mentioned anywhere. I contacted Majority about this on their website, and they lied and say that stereo sound is possible, when it's not.* The sound is also very flat, with no bass or treble or EQ controls, which further reduces the sound enjoyment and sound quality.* For the FM Radio, 'Radio Text' information is never displayed for any radio stations. It just says "<Radio Text>".* The online manual mentions a "Scan" button which is not on the device. It's replaced by a "Dimmer" button. There is no paper manual included.* Minor: The product photos in the online description are very misleading. They don't show the back of the device, which has an unusual 'half hexagon' shape (also called a trapezoid, made from 3 triangles). It is not a slim rectangle as displayed in the product photos. See attached photo.

Really good for price
Ideal for use in the kitchen, which is my reason for buying - although it has an alarm so can be used in the bedroom too, having said that though, think the buttons are a tad small to be able to turn alarm off/snooze when you're half asleep! Also, one little bugbear, the volume settings could be better as from turning volume up from number one setting to number two, goes considerably louder, ideally somewhere in-between the two would be better, but that's my personal opinion! Would recommend as very compact and stylish (white version) and value for money.

No
I was expecting a sleek medium sized radio which I could carry around. In fact it has a very wide base and you would not want to carry it in a bag. It was exceptionally fiddly to set up compared to all the other radios I have. Entering the 10 presets was hit and miss each time. It is not suitable as a bedside radio because there are so many buttons on the top that you need to look at what you’re doing and you cannot do it simply by touch. Even then you have to keep pressing preset/enter/scroll over and over again. Battery consumption was a laugh. Is exhausted four AA batteries in a couple of days and I certainly didn’t get 15 hours listening. It then exhausted four rechargeable batteries overnight when I hardly used it at all. So I sent it back. The Sony XDR-S410 has a reasonable battery life and it’s so much easier to use. Press the recessed power button and then one of the five preset buttons. Easy Peezy.

Excellent DAB radio
I bought this Histon DAB radio to replace my old DAB radio and I am really impressed with it. The Histon has great reception, with good sound, it has a decent range of features, it looks good and is not bulky. On top of this the manufacturer: Majority is based in Cambridge, so it feels good buying from a UK company.
