Nexstar 6se - stop using your shipping box and get this
This is a great case. Much better than using the box my Nexstar 6se was shipped in. For a while I tried using a rubbermaid bin and reusing the foam packaging, but it was not that convenient to carry around. You couldn't carry it one handed. One side holds your scope. For the 6se you wont need the two foam spacer inserts. To get the 6se to fit, you need to stretch the case foam a bit to clear the visual back and focuser. At first I was concerned about the pressure of such a snug fit, but the foam does give a bit so it is fine. Be aware that the 4/5/6se will fit with the mount attached, but for the 8se you will need to remove the mount. Only the 8se optical tube will fit. The picture on the insert of the case (check out the pictures on the celestron site to see what I mean) shows the OTA placed with the hand control on the right and the bolt that attaches the tube to the fork arm pointing up, however I had to insert it reversed (mirrored) for that to work. In other words, when I place the OTA in the case I have the hand control on the left so the fork arm knob points up. If I placed it as the pamphlet showed, the knob would be pointing down and I think that would prevent it from laying truly flat. I had to remove the finderscope, not to mention the diagonal. The 4/5se might allow room to have them attached, but I wouldn't bet on it. It also has a nice seat belt buckle to secure it. The other side has a slightly rigid zippered flap the size of the entire side. It is recessed so as to have enough clearance when the case is closed. Unzipping the flap and lifting it up reveals it has a full length pocket on the other side. You could possibly fit notes and small starcharts within it. I place my eyepiece tray in it even though part of it sticks out. No worries since when the flap is zipped everything inside is separated from the OTA. Underneath where the flap lays, there are two velcro closed pouches. Inside one pouch there are three separated spaces. The other pouch has four. In one pouch, I could easily fit the finderscope, the diagonal, and AC power cord. The other pouch will accommodate eyepieces, filters and other odds and ends. The pouches themselves feel slightly padded as well. The handles include a velcro wrap to make sure the straps stay together. The outer shell is a bit rigid, but I would not go about dropping or banging it around. Don't expect to step on it and not crunch something inside. It is a vessel to store your OTA and accessories elegantly and convenient to carry around one handed. While the case itself looks like it would withstand normal wear and tear, I wouldn't want to cause any damage to it that would affect the contents inside. Do yourself a favor and get this case. While it is hard to justify the cost of this as opposed to a DIY solution. This is designed for your scope and it is worth it in my opinion.

Top Notch Telescope Case!
This is a top quality Celestron telescope case for the Nexstar and SE 4", 5" & 6" SCT scopes and mounts. It will even fit the Celestron 8" SCT OTA but without the mount (8" OTA only). Super solid thick dense foam interior and semi-hard-shell exterior. Plenty of space for the scopes and accessories. I have my Meade 8" ACF OTA inside with 2" diagonal and other 2" accessories. It's bigger than my thick padded tubular storage bag I had for it but not too, too big. It would have been nice if they didn't make the lid section as deep as the storage section and cut it down a couple inches but other than that it's a terrific case. My only complaint is that it IS a bit overpriced. You won't be disappointed though.

Well made, seems durable
I have a Celestron NexStar 6SE. This bag fits this telescope perfectly and you don’t need to detach the motorized mount from the scope. Once you realize that you have to direct the tube into a vertical position and remove all attachments it fits right in (without any of the included padding blocks). You can leave the dovetail and guide mounts intact. The bag has an internal undetachable bag with three large padded pockets that fit just about any accessory. It fits the 6” telescope perfectly. I imagine that other sized tubes would require some sort of modification.

Quality is just average and not what I would expect from Celestron. Overpriced for the level of quality but has GREAT features
I purchased this for my Celestron Nexstar Evolution 8. First, as many wonder, it fits the OTA and mount, but just barely. It will cause the sides to bow out a 1/2 inch or so but I have no problems zipping it up. Storage in the top compartment is deep and has two large soft nylon pockets (Velcro flaps seal the pockets) with sewn in soft nylon dividers - 9 total of several different widths - very nice and well thought out. (9" deep in the top pocket and 7" deep on the bottom. All compartment openings are 3" front to back and from side to side there are 4 - 1.5", 1 - 2.75", 1 - 3.5", 3 - 4" approx). It holds my Laptop nicely with room to spare too. Also very nice. On the backside of the flap that covers this compartment is a large pocket for paper items approximately 11" wide by 11" deep - also good for a ultra book laptop computer . A Velcro strip holds in the contents. I do want to go into the quality as this is expensive. First as another reviewer noted; there is nothing here of any exceptional quality- average i'd say -certainly not up to the asking price. I would describe the quality as like an inexpensive luggage carrier found at any discount store. Something of the order of $75.00. Given the custom touches, I'd say this is worth $150.00 and that should give Celestron a reasonable profit margin. The lining is thin and loose and I don't think it will last long unless extreme care is taken not to snag anything on it. In fact, 30 minutes after this arrived at my door the lining is now damaged. I was arranging one of the pads used to protect the scope and the Velcro used to seal up the lining on this pad accidentally touched the lining. I pulled it loose and frayed the lining. It is made of some soft material about the thickness of a inexpensive T-shirt . The outside is ridged except for the top closure. The outside is covered in nylon and seems like it will hold up to most anything. There is a side and top soft nylon handle that is sewn and riveted. I would not trust either one of the handles to bear the weight of this case with my OTA AND mount inside. If you were just keeping the OTA inside they should be more than strong enough. The extendable ridged handle is average quality but again should hold up with care. The zippers are not YKK and are not branded; they are nylon, light duty zippers. Finally, It is extremely nice looking. So would I recommend this case?, well, I decided on this case for these reasons: One it is designed for a telescope and mount and carries LOTS of accessories - safely (although I won't put my EPs in this case)- this is the major reason I purchased this. It matches my Celestron telescope - vanity, I know. There is only one other case I could find that is made for this scope and it's around $500 dollars - crazy, but that one is suitable for shipping your scope, this one is not. My only real disappointment with this case is the lining and possibly the zipper - the wear items. Break the zipper and this becomes near worthless. I can't say if the zipper is going to hold up as I just got my hands on it. Back to my recommendation.... yes I would recommended it but only because there is really nothing else out there near this price and with these features, but in my opinion, you are not getting your money's worth. Hopefully this review will give you the detail you need to made an informed decision. I would give this 3.5 stars out of 5 if it were possible. To Celestron: use a larger zipper and upgrade the lining and I think I would gladly recommend this for the current asking price. ***UPDATE*** I just just completed a 3 week - 4,000 mile road trip around the western states. I took my telescope and it traveled in my 5th wheel trailer the whole time. I took the scope out about 6 times and moved the case around the trailer every couple of days. The scope suffered no damage and the collimation remained spot on even driving over miles of rough dirt roads. I'm very pleased. The case suffered no damage either. To kept any stresses off the scope during travel by releasing the clutches on the alt/alz mount and I placed the scope on it's side rather than in the upright position. I'm changing my rating to 4 stars, although again, I think this is over-priced.

I bought this for my wife's NexStar evolution 8in, the case is a perfect fit with thick (approx 30mm) padding all round and a strap for additional security, the lid has an inner zipped compartment with pockets for eyepieces etc and with wheels it makes moving what is a heavy telescope a lot easier. It's not cheap but when you consider the value of the telescope it protects it's worth it.

I am so happy that I made this purchase. I had a hard time with the high cost but I was so excited when it arrived. It will not only hold the optical tube but all of the accessories, with the exception of the tripod. It is sturdy but be aware that it takes up a lot of real estate! It's huge! If you don't plan to take the scope anywhere then I would say don't get it. I wouldn't pay this amount just for a storage bag but since I plan to transport, it's a must in my mind. It will keep my investment safe so to me, that's worth it.

Well made, good looking, I'm confident it will do the job and it fits in a BMW 2-Series' boot! WHEW. With and EdgeHD and Evolution mount and tripod, only the OTA and a few accessories will fit. But if youPut all that into the bag you wouldn’t be able to lift it anyway. My only real complaint is it there’s nowhere for the finder scope which would be convenient with the 8 inch OTA.
