Watchmen: Absolute Edition (Absolute Editions) : Moore, Alan: desertcart.in: Books Review: Lives up to its reputation of the greatest comic of all time. - Alan Moore is a genius. There's no questioning that. And I had really high expectations getting into this one because of the reputation this book holds. But nothing could prepare me for the brilliance that was to follow with this read. I was amazed with the depth and prolific writing as well as the equally amazing artwork by Dave Gibbons. Reading this masterpiece is an experience that I won't be able to forget anytime soon. But I hope I do just to read this again and just get blown away as I did the first time. The themes and ideas explored in this book, although being confined to the superhero genre, are timeless. That is what is the true appeal of this book. The issues that deal with exploring the characters to me were much more interesting than the plot itself, which is pretty fantastic too. But to call it a character drama and as many know by now, the deconstruction of superheroes in a dark and terrifying reality would be oversimplifying the narrative. This is one comic that I already feel like revisiting in just a few days' time and I'm sure I'll read it start to end pretty soon. As for the physical book itself, I am 100% positive that this is the best edition to pick up (except the Absolute which I haven't checked out). The slip case is beautifully designed, super sturdy and has great artwork. The book also is amazing and feels like a tome with really thick and solid paper quality. The only nitpick I have with this edition is that the pages are glossy and can pick up fingerprints quite easily. But that shouldn't bother those who treat their comics right. Can't recommend this enough. A must have and a must read. Review: it demands multiple reading not for ambiguity but for better understanding of the poetic essence of the storyline - What can I say about Watchmen. I purchased it in october last year and read it twice already. I will definitely reread this monumental work of Alan Moore so many times in the coming years . Yes, it demands multiple reading not for ambiguity but for better understanding of the poetic essence of the storyline. I am sure it will provide you every time with new texture of human nature. The Absolute edition is awesome. My Second after Batman's Long Halloween. It is probably the best edition so far (I don't see the new slipcase box set edition though). The oversized heavy mat papers exquisitely present the art of Dave Gibbons. Just fantastic! The compactness of all the pages are mindblowing. Not a single panel is negligible. Somehow I think the Story of Alan Moore overshadowed the ART of Dave Gibbons. For me he is the best of the best. The only objection of this absolute edition is it's binding. Yes it is swen but the pages are glued with the spine. Gradually the glued portion of the inner spine detached from the pages and the binding get loose. Not so horrible but definitely not going well with the high standard of the Absolute Edition. Overall I am happy with this edition. It is the best of my collection so far.

Good;-)
Awesome but the price 2300 is too high for a hardback comic.

there's not much to say about the comic, so i'll talk about this edition. It's beautiful. It's stunning. Picture quality is fantastic. I enjoyed the book from start to finish in several evening sessions. It was a deeply moving experience. Thanks to everybody involved. So if you want the ABSOLUTE Edition of this masterpiece. This is it.

9 chapters in (out of 12 I believe) & already got my money-worth and then some. This is a quality book. I've yet to see how it all unfolds but the story is great so far & some of the chapters are masterpieces in storytelling. Recommended to any graphic novels fan interested in a murder-mystery set in a gritty 80's New York.
