Graphic Novel Boom! Studios Dec 2, 2015 Omnibus edition of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (Kindle Version)
This is my first time reading a graphic novel. As I understand it, Dick's novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, was adapted to a serialized comic-book release. Ultimately, this combined version has been released with supplemental materials including essays and artwork. The panels are colorful and enticing. The Kindle Version allowed me to double click on a particular panel and then swipe from panel to panel without having to re-enlarge each panel. Use of this reading mode is explained at the beginning of the book when you open it on your Kindle. This was a great feature for navigating the text. There were only a few, perhaps 3 or 4 panels where the text exceeded the display margins requiring that I exit this particular viewing mode and zoom on the given panel in order to be able to read the entire text of dialogue. These kinds of formatting issues are more an annoyance than anything, and were remedied with the workaround to which I referred. Dick explores the human capacity for empathy and how it distinguishes us. As we progress toward driverless (autonomous) vehicles, and with advances in artificial intelligence (AI), Dick's questioning remains relevant. Dick doesn't force a conclusion on the reader and my sense was that Dick leaves some questions open at the conclusion of the text.As another reviewer commented, the text is large at 544 pages. Nevertheless, I found myself finishing it over approximately 4 days. While it is a comic-style graphic novel, like the animated cartoon-style Family Guy, Archer, The Simpson's, etc., it may not be appropriate for younger readers, though perhaps tame by today's standards of sexual innuendo and violence. I did read a number of the essays in the supplemental materials section. For me, they were underwhelming, but for a PKD (Phil K. Dick) fan, they may have a greater value.Happy reading!

gets you thinking about what society could have looked liked
i love the idea of what society could have looked like if we have had to engage in a nuclear war with the U.S.S.R.

Pretty slow going.
I am a big fan of Dick and read this years and years ago, but in re-reading it now, it does not stand the test of time.

Good concept, poor execution
I thought I'd give this a shot because I like the concept of presenting the entire original novel in graphic novel format. However, the drawing style looks bad and I can't bear with it.

Not the novel
I just wanted to read the novel. Returned immediately.

Very nice, but large
Lovely graphic version of the original story. There is a lot of content here, so it will take noticeably longer to download. It actually took me three attempts to get a successful download. If you can put up with this, it makes a great companion to the PKD novels

Not a Book
