Simply the best-Milwaukee always at the cutting edge
Tough plastic. Buckles are very strong. Hoping it holds out to outside elements. I don't know about this plastic cracking in cold winter months. This foam box is a very nice addition to my Milwaukee tools and cases. Following the cutting of the foam to fit all my tools, I still have one empty space for yet another battery and I also added two more batteries and some bits that I use often. Just make an x mark in the foam with a knife and stick the bits in.This box can hold a lot but lay all your tools out carefully prior to cutting. I used the large fillet knife (in the pic) for the first cut around each tool one at a time. After this first outline cut I removed the tool and pulled back a couple layers of packing. Then I continued cutting foam with the small knife to go all the way through. It worked well for me this way instead of tracing I cut around the tool then removed it out of the way to continue my cuts accurately. The batteries require cutting foam almost all the way to the bottom of the foam. You will notice the tool only require the half layer of foam to be removed not all the way to the bottom of the box. It peels off in layers. I just bought another one for a worker so I can keep my tools safe and secure instead of throwing them in a 5 gallon bucket banging them around like he was. Its also easy access grab the box and get to work quickly! I bought the roller box also and will review that one soon. .

AWESOME STORAGE!
This was my 2nd PACK-OUT with custom foam insert. It takes some time to slowly cut out the shapes, and I had to use glue in some places to put the foam layers back where they belong, but in the end it looks GREAT! Once you have more than one, the PACK-OUT cases snap together so they stack PERFECTLY (OC guy here) and if you own the Rolling Tool Box or 2-Wheel Cart, they can be rolled into the job site. This family of engineered storage units are AMAZING! Somebody at Milwaukee definitely did their homework.

Foam insert was not pre-cut
Case is nice, the foam came un-cut contrary to some other reviews

great protection for your investment
As you can tell by the pics, I'm a fan and believer in the PACKOUT line of boxes. If you're using Milwaukee tools, you've made an investment in your gear. If you want to protect your investment, you should be putting it in the PACKOUT boxes. Sometimes I drive to the project and other times I'm flying and I don't think twice about my gear arriving in one piece. You have so many options of how you want to protect your gear, purchase additional foam if you want to change what gear you want to carry together. The foam insert will even fit in the large toolbox, which is what I use when I fly. The boxes are very well made, materials are strong, but yet lightweight. The biggest drawback on the PACKOUT line is.....once you buy one piece, you can't stop at 1.

Great addition but could be better
I love the Packout system so I bought this to use as a laptop case. I travel a lot & also take a media player raspberry pi to use for hotel stays out of town. The two foam inserts gave me all the space I needed for everything I carried in my old laptop bag. However the only flaw in my view is the type of foam used. I could cut the shape for the items I traced cleanly with just a fresh box cutter blade. After that, the desired depth for each item was considerably harder with trying to rip out the cut section of foam by hand. At least twice the inconsistency of pulling apart foam layers left me with torn holes through thinner sections of foam that I had to tape up. I wish milwaukee would switch to the cubed foam inserts that you find in hard cases intended for camera equipment & other electronics. Still I was able to make it work as a great, protective laptop case.

Received correct one Mar. 7,22.
Read reviews, people getting pre molded ones for drills or whatever, got mine today Mar. 7th, it was the correct customizable one! I also looked into the kazan inserts to buy separate, im sure they are just as good but by time you spend 40+ on insert, maybe shipping, + cost of the unit your gonna be 120$+ on the box. I'll pass, they are already pricey enough. The insert does slide out kind of easy, but it didn't just fall out like some described, there is no wiggle room.... I'll be buying another!
