These appear to be sleeve bearing motors and will slow down/wear faster when mounted horizontally (in particular when blowing air upwards). I also noticed the motor runs a little warm so it may be self defeating in certain applications. I'd suggest a ball bearing type fan like Evercool if you have a more demanding environment.
