Nice radio at right price

Nice little set, would buy another one, Alinco or CRE.
I bought this used a year ago and been usiing it most days since, as a homebase unit. At first glance, the menu-driven system seems a bit off-putting, but in all honesty once you've delved into the menu for your initial set-up and tweaking it a bit thereafter, you hardly ever touch it. Just about every control you normally use is there, on the front panel, or just a single button push away. It was so long since I last delved into the memory to set the mic gain, that I'd forgotten how, and had to look at the manual for a refresh. Dead simple, as it turned out. This set is actually the CRE 8900, with the Alinco name on it. It seems to have no real relationship to other Alincos, and I suspect the main Alinco importer / dealer for the UK just arranged with Alinco they could put their name on it. In the rest of the world, it's sold as the CRE8900.
