Meike 35mm F1.4 Large Aperture Manual Focus APS-C Lens Compatible with Sony E Mount Mirrorless Cameras NEX 6 7 A5000 A5100 A6000 A6100 A6300 A6500 A6600 A6400 A6700

This lens pairs extremely well with my Sony a5100 size and weight wise (it's just a little bigger than the 16-50mm kit lens and while heavier, not by enough to matter). I plan to carry it with me whenever I have my a5100 with me! This lens is not autofocus (and doesn't have image stabilization though the fast aperture means a shorter shutter time so stabilization doesn't matter as much). To use this lens you need to enable "release w/o lens" (the camera doesn't know the lens is attached due to the lack of electrical contacts). Then you want to set up focus peaking so that things turn red when in focus and peaking level to high and "focus magnif. time" to "No limit". (There is probably one more setting to make clicking on the touch screen go into 6X magnification which is key for attaining sharpness easily and quickly). I'm very pleased with the portrait photos I've taken with this lens (probably similar to a nifty fifty on a full frame camera since 35mm x 1.5 is 52.5). I basically shoot at f1.4 all of the time with this lens except for experimentation or in full sunlight. I even played around a bit with some basic astro-photography and this is certainly a way to practice the skills you would need for that since auto focus just doesn't cut it at least with the a5100 in low light with any lens I've tried. I'm sure pixel peepers will complain about sharpness overall and perhaps vignetting but these seem pretty reasonable to me especially considering how cheap this is for a f1.4 lens! For comparison, I also have the 7artisans 25mm f1.8 and this lens seemed sharper and was more fun to use overall because of the faster aperture but I will need more experience with the 7artisans lens to know for sure. I tried this on my Sony A7RIII and it seemed about as sharp as the Sony 50mm f1.8 FE lens in the middle (the original ~$200 lens) in one test in relatively low light (indoors, ~12pt text 10ft away, one 100W light in a big room). One negative with this lens on the A7RIII is that I couldn't figure out how to turn on touch magnification (though I can access this via the menu and probably assign to a button). The bigger negative is on the tighter mount (weather sealing?) it was difficult to mount and unmount and I'm slightly worried that it may harm the camera body.). Since the A7RIII doesn't know the lens is APS-C it still shoots full frame so you basically get a circle which you could crop later or manually switch to APS-C mode to crop in body. I suspect you wouldn't use this lens for video unless you were in low light or the subject doesn't move a lot (or is close to infinity) or you want more bokeh than any affordable auto-focus lens that I know of. My theory for 2020 is that most people will be content with the "perfect" pictures that a high end cell phone can take. However, if you want to learn more about photography and achieve a unique look, this lens could be for you! Also add in some macro tubes to have even more fun!

This is my third Meike lens, and I will say they do NOT disappoint! Their lenses in general are very well made, very sturdy, and do not reflect their price at all. Now to review this particular lens; it is sharp and has beautiful DoF and bokeh. It really is gorgeous. Keep in mind this is a MANUAL lens, so it is not for the faint of heart lol I tried this on a Sony A7iii with manual focus assist, and let me tell you: great things are possible. This lens is truly a good value for the money, and then some! Performs beautiful in low light as well - what more could anyone ask for?! I know, AF but lets focus on the price tag...no pun intended! I highly, highly recommend this lens! I think Meike is seriously underrated!

I was astonish at the quality of this lens for the price. Both construction (all metal) and image quality are incredible. Amazing shallow depth of field, great low light performance, outstanding color and image quality.

Very compact and well built with reasonable sharpness in the center, not very sharp on the edges if your budget allows I'd recommend getting the 30mm sigma 1.4

image quality is just plain awful. seriously, for beginner or not not good… again if you’re looking for something different and artistic it can work. Build quality is nice and feels very solid so is the look of it.

This is now the fastest lens I own. Having a 1.4 f-stop opens up so many possibilities to play with DoF and handheld low light shots. I'm having a ball with it. 35mm on an APS-C is like 50mm on a full frame and so is the optimum walking around prime. Really well made for the cost; I was surprised how solid it feels. De-clicked aperture, normally I'm normally not a fan of, but it does make for a more fluid style which suits this lens. You won't find a more fun lens for the price.

I love this lens and it’s so good for its price! I came across this from Arthur R’s YouTube channel on reviews for lens’. The quality is beautiful and love this for portraits. The only thing I have trouble with is it takes me a bit to focus the lens because it’s manual focus only and sometimes it looks sharp and in focus on my screen but then when I upload it, it turns out slightly blurry. Still practicing and figuring it out but love it otherwise

Considering that this lens is sub $100, I almost can't believe the image quality I'm able to produce. I'm a hobbyist photographer and I have fallen in love with the images that this lens has unlocked. The construction feels high-quality, while not adding too much heft to my Sony a6000. I couldn't be more pleased with this cost-effective prime lens from Meike; it's turned into my go-to lens for about town jaunts and hikes.

Great build quality, I love the heft it adds to my camera. Though when at 1.4 to around 2.8 the picture is a little soft and at 1.4 its really noticeable. But that is to be expected with such a price point. I use it mostly at 2.8 and slower. This lens is a must have if you want to add on a super fast, cheap, street and portrait purpose lense. Good for purists. There's vignetting but good product for an affordable lens.

Vorab: Bewerten möchte ich nur das was ich bekommen habe, in Relation zur Beschreibung und dem Preis natürlich. Die manuelle Fokussierung werde ich keines falls in diese Bewertung aufnehmen. Genauso wenig werde ich Objektive und deren Präferenzen, mit diesem vergleichen, die mindestens das fünf fache kosten. Dieses kleine Schmuckstück hat mich in seiner Verarbeitung wirklich beeindruckt. Das Metallgehäuse ist wertig umgesetzt. Lediglich beim anbringen an dem Body, meiner Alpha 6300 war ich kurz irritiert, als das endgültige einrasten ausblieb. Man kann es ziemlich fest eindrehen, aber wenn man sich an der Beschriftung des objektives orientiert kriegt man es sicher und vernünftig dran und auch wieder abgenommen. Vielleicht ist das aber auch nur an meinem Exemplar so. Dennoch sind meine Erwartungen weit übertroffen. Die Haptik lädt zum benutzen ein. Der Fokus-, wie auch Blenden-Ring gehen meiner Meinung nach genauso wie ich das gerne habe. Aber da scheiden sich die Geister. Habe bei einer relativ lichtstarken Optik mit dieser Brennweite für 100€ wirklich weniger erwartet. Die Schärfe nehmt zu den Ecken leicht ab bei einer Blende von 1,4. Aber definitiv alles im grünen Bereich. Es ist halt kein G oder gar G Master Objektiv. Im allgemeinen ist die Schärfe Gut aber nicht hervorragend. Zum scharf stellen empfiehlt sich das Fokus-Peaking zu benutzen. Was das Bokeh angeht, ist diese bei Offenblende angenehm Bubble-artig ohne dabei zu unruhig zu sein. Aber auch dies, ist nur meine subjektive Meinung. CA sind natürlich erhalten. Muss dabei sagen, dass ich bei einer Optik die das Fünffache gekostet hat, schlimmere CA/Farbsäume erblicken musste. Fehler und Unzulänglichkeiten dieser Optik befinden sich in solchen Maßen, dass man diese in der bildgestaltung für sich nutzen kann und man die Möglichkeit bekommt seinen Bildern einen eigenen Charakter zu verpassen. Alles in einem ist es für knapp unter 100€ ein gutes Objektiv. Definitiv sein Geld wert! Mein idealer Weggefährte im urbanen Dschungel.

Monté sur mon Sony A6000 en remplacement du 16-50 mm d'origine, c'est le jour et la nuit, véritablement. Plus de flou de bouger, bagues d'ouverture et de focus très agréables et précises à l'utilisation. Les photos en intérieur, ou par faible luminosité, sont enfin un plaisir. Construction en métal qui fait sérieux, très bien fini. Par contre, c'est plus lourd que le petit 16-50 ! Rien de gênant évidemment. Je mets une photo récente en exemple.
