We got this fire starter for my 10-year-old son who just joined the Boy Scouts, and it’s been a fantastic tool for teaching him basic outdoor skills. I've had several Bayite ferro rods before and I love them, In the past they have been 1/2 x 5 or 6 inches or the micro sized rods, this is my first 3/8 by 4 inch from Bayite. As expected, it's a fantastic product at a very reasonable price, and is for me, the perfect size to pack. I really appreciate the striker and lanyard that are included as well. Bayite make a fantastic compact striker that really throws gobs of hot metal when used aggressively.

Works. Makes good sparks.

Practice with it a while for your survival depends on it. Takes 5 minutes to wear off the coating. Until then, little to no sparks will happen.
