Replacement Battery for APC Smart UPS 1000 SUA1000

This is a set of two batteries for the APC Smart UPS 1000. It replaces the single battery pack originally installed (which is actually the exact same two batteries that are provided here shrink wrapped into a single "pack" by APC). The installation did require removing the link wire with 60A fuse from the original battery pack (connecting the two batteries to each other's +/- terminals) and transferring it to the new individual batteries. The fit of the batteries is perfect and they function fine. The description really should mention that it is two batteries designed to take the place of one (even though the original "one" is really two batteries shrink wrapped together anyway), and it should mention the need to swap the jumper wire as well. 5 Stars for the product and 4 Stars for the description. If you are handy enough to feel you can swap your own battery the 1 battery "pack" vs. 2 individual batteries as well as transferring the link wire should not bother you at all. That part is easier than figuring out how to get the UPS open.

The batteries in one of my UPSes were shot and needed replaced. It is much more cost effective to buy these over the ones from APC. Just need to reuse the fuse and power connector from the old set of batteries. These ones are actually a higher capacity battery than the original and provide a longer runtime. They've worked well now for several years and are probably approaching time for replacement. Definitely gotten more than my money's worth out of them.

I never give poor reviews because I may be the only one who had this experience but I have to caution anyone think about buying from this vendor. First, the package arrived totally torn-up. I should have returned it right then and there but I would have to buy new packaging just to ship it back. You could easily see the batteries thru the packing tape, no cardboard. The batteries weren't leaking but they were dented and dinged. While USPS probable deserves their share of the blame, the packaging was total inadequate - this was bound to happen. Next, these were replacements for an older APC Smart UPS 1000 (which I have replaced before). The terminals on the batteries were facing the wrong way - toward the case. There is no way/no space to plug the connectors into the terminal. Maybe there are newer versions of the same model UPS that can accommodate this but mine could not. Since I had no way to return the batteries (and my UPS was continually beeping) I tried to bend the terminals so I could attach the connectors. When I plugged the power back in, it fried the circuit board in the UPS. I ended up throwing everything away at the recycling center.

Bought 4-months ago (Mar-2020) and still working great in my APC BackUPS Pro 1100. These batteries keep nice & cool vs the previous battery pack which heated up and deformed inside the case. And great price compared to OEM $140 price tag. I live in an area with constant brown/blackouts. The batteries hold strong through all power disruptions Of course, it depends on what is attached, but my BackUPS running these batteries provide 53 minutes of power during a total blackout.

I have ordered 15 sets of these over the past 9+ years. The last set March 2023 did not last 1.5 years These batteries should last at least 2 years. Bad batch perhaps. ?

I purchased this battery because it was significantly cheaper than the APC branded battery replacements available elsewhere. I'll echo what another reviewer said: This item is two separate batteries that need to be joined in series to function properly. You'll need 10 gauge wiring to make the connection from one battery's positive terminal to the other battery's negative terminal, with spade connectors. Fortunately, the last off-brand replacement I bought actually had a small cable with a fuse already, so I re-purposed that. Once connected, both batteries slide snugly into the APC unit. I did not have any problems with fit.

The ones I got were light colored with black tops and labelled Sigmas Tek. Battery life was as predicted, but failure mode was unusual Bought a pair of these for my APC Smart UPS 1000 (old model) in March of 2014. They were still going strong in December of 2017. However, at that time I started noticing a funny smell, and then noticed that the case of the UPS was REALLY hot. So I disconnected it and shut it down, and could hear some gurgling sounds inside. Opening it up, I could see that the batteries were really hot to the point that the plastic was starting to melt and the sides bulge. So I pulled them out of the unit and put them outside on the concrete in case they might be likely to catch fire or explode or something... Oddly, they were still working fine when in the unit, but I've had the UPS for over a decade now and have replaced the batteries in it a couple of times-- this is the first time I've had this sort of failure mode, and it doesn't inspire me to buy another set of this particular brand, in case there's something up with the manufacturing that would cause this type of failure. The other thing is, what's on this ups is a cable modem, a wifi router, and my monitor since my computer is now a laptop with its own battery-- so the load on this UPS was well within its rating.

I was concerned about buying these batteries because some were very expensive from other sellers and these cost considerably less. I put two of these into an old APC UPC and they work well. I'm glad I made the purchase. Udated: Still no regrets. These batteries are performing well and saved me from having to purchase a new UPS. Installed in 2017 and still going strong. February 2022.

It is a battery, and it seems to be doing its job. It seems that pricing as listed included all taxes and shipping. Purchased March 16, 2014. Unit is now looking for a new battery set as at Sept 2015.
