Edge/Trench like a pro.
Well, I wasn't too sure about the product reading all the reviews with stories of breaking blades, no guide marker stuff, but decided to give the LE-750 a try. Guess what - I ran into the best edger that I have ever used. Even though the cautious side of mine made me get an extra set of blades, I have already completed all the trenching and edging projects on a 3 year old lawn all, in professional quality. The blade refuses to go, it is as good as new. As for the absence of guide, it is way too obvious to know where the cutting blade is when running the edger. It is right under the seam of the blade chamber. I had no problem cutting the sod on the street side in a straight line without causing any sparks. The sparks may come out when your blade hits concrete, but what else would you expect? The product is easy to operate and has enough of oomph to get a trenching/edging job a breeze. The key trick that I found for myself is to lift the right side up, press the trigger, start the blades humming and then slowly sink it at the right spot. This way, the thing holds and doesn't budge left or right. My neighbours are in awe over the finish of my lawn and I tell them, if you like what you see, go and get a Black and Decker for yourself. I am very happy and satisfied with the product. By the way, I don't know what to do with the extra blade that I ordered, because the current one doesn't seem to be in trouble for a long time to come. Wish you luck.

Cuts like a champ, so much better than a gas edger
I've had this product for over a year. The Good: It cuts through almost anything, dirt, roots, grass, no problem. The blade settings are easy to change (from edging to trenching). I edge my yard weekly, and also trench-cut around my beds; it takes 2 seconds to switch between the 2 settings. The electrical power also is key, it never has a lack of 'torque' and powers through anything (except for concrete, which I don't plan on cutting, but when edging by the sidewalk, there are some overpours of concrete down in the gap which I don't try to cut through). The wheels are balanced well, so it's very easy to push. The Bad (if you can call it that, since these are very minor nitpicks): You need a lot of extension cord, but that's obvious. The top handle could be a bit sturdier, I have to re-tighten it every few weeks. Comparison to gas edger: I used to use a multi-attachment gas powered edger (with swap out stems for the blower and weed-whacker). The always "ON" power in the B&D edger is far far superior to what the gas powered one could do. I find I spend 1/2 the time with this edger doing the same work. I actually do more work now in less time since I use it for trenching the flower-bed lines now. My multi-attachment gas unit is now just for weed-whacking and using the blower... which also has extended the life of that tool since the edging was brutalizing the internal moving parts and stressing the motor.

Pretty good
I had been using my string edger, (B&D 20V battery) but when I was hurt in a fall, my edging didn't get done for over 5 months! So over-grown in my driveway, walkway, and curb the string edger just could not cut the thick runners of grass. Well, I ordered this one (I REALLY wish they would make a battery-operated one) and it still took a bit of time, it did get the job done.d But does a decent job, sometimes I have to run it twice over the thicker spots. I know that once done and kept up weekly, it will become easier. I'm keeping it and will continue to use it. The downside is carrying and 100' electric cord over my shoulder! I don't like that, it tends to cause me to lose my balance at times. Overall, I love my B&D tools. The next venture with B&D will be kitchen appliances! Just a note on B&D - - - ALL my tools are 20v B&D tools - I still use the stringer for trimming around trees, home, garden, and hard sport to mow. I have the 20v power drill with a whole lot of tools for doing all sorts of things, I have a 20v blower that is wonderful for sweeping the front porch, blowing refuse off the curb and driveway that is powerful. (It even works for drying the dogs! LOL* Lastly, I have the 20v hedge trimmer. It works great for overgrown vines and hedges. I have a huge Confederate Jasmine the during, my lapse has invaded my neighbors' fence, another's garage, and growing forward to invade my back yard and potted plants. This tool is a honey! Easy quick and far enough in front of me that the vines can just fall and I go. Tips: If you go with B&D 20v battery tools it is important to clean them and give them a light spray of WD40 when putting them up. Also, these tools all come with a 20v battery and charger, some have 2 batteries included, but I have 8 batteries so I always have one 'ready to go". All of these are very easy to use, light enough for carrying (I'm 73 y/o). I wish they offered a battery-operated saw for small projects like bookshelves, border fencing, making pallet tables, and other small projects I would like to make for my back yard. One other thing is that all the battery chargers and batteries are interchangeable to each other, but do not buy the battery with the "black" back (others are cream or grey) because I have never gotten it to take a charge, the charger gets hot, and I've tried with all 4 of my chargers and the problem is in the battery! I never sent it back for replacement so I keep in a small box and dead batteries go there for charging but the box keeps my "needs charging batteries separate from the box with "charged and ready".

Edges great but assembles bad
First the edger works as advertised. I had a battery operated one before and took it back after the first used. Underpowered and light weight. This unfortunately has a cord but works like my old gas engine model. Heavy enough to hold in the path along the driveway sidewalk and street. I have to work on my curves but my straight runs look professional. Now the bad part Assembly. The cord did not and would not push into the handle tube as described in the directions. I had to disassemble the handle and cut close to 10” of excess wire. The wire ends had ferrules to tighten properly into the switch. I did not have ferrules so I had to solder the bare ends to build them up to get a good tight connection in the switch. If the amount of excess wire is typical I would not recommend someone without electrical experience doing this. Return it. I was anxious to use it. Again works very well for intended ourpos once you can get it together 🤔🤗

Hard working tool!
I've never edged my lawn before and I've lived in this house for 8 years. I thought I was doing a decent job with a weedwhacker but my edges were still extremely overgrown. Received this tool and spent 8 hours cleaning up my driveway, curbs, and sidewalk. I live on a corner so there was lots of sidewalk to do! In some spots the overgrowth was 4 inches onto the sidewalk! I didn't take any photos of the worst spots because I was so hard at work and just focused on getting it done. This edger works great! It's tricky to keep going in a straight line when you're as overgrown as I was. The next time will be so much easier. There's something very satisfying when you did a good job with the edger, was straight and close enough to the edge of the pavement. The extra grass and dirt come away like you cut crust off of bread. Works great, no running issues or overheating even with a full days hard work Bought a 100 foot extension cord and extra blade ( figuring I'd blow out this first blade no problem) the blade it comes with still looks good and will serve me well for several more uses. Love the convenience of electric, maneuvering the cord was no problem and no gas or oil to mess with. I saw reviews about the guard being too low. This model has a height adjustment on the guard, even with all the dirt and over growth I had, I didn't not have to raise the guard. Great tool! Super happy

Completely worth it.
Very easy to assemble and requires no tools! I edged a brand new lawn (meaning it had to remove a lot of roots and dirt on the first pass) with this bad boy with no issues at all. The adjustable depth came in handy as my driveway had a bit of form leakage where I needed to make a more shallow cut in a few places. The edger is very maneuverable on straight lines but struggles a bit on tight curves due to the blade hitting the concrete (any bladed edger will have this issue). I do agree with other reviewers that the handles height should be more adjustable as it is low and requires you to lean over a bit to wield it comfortably (for reference I am 6'). Pros: No Gas No String Cuts Cleanly Adjustable Height Blade replacements are relatively cheap (6-7 here on amazon) Very cost effective Cons: Not battery operated! I would pay 2-3x the cost for a battery powered option Handle is not height adjustable and is rather low Conclusion: I'm incredibly satisfied with this edger as it worked perfectly without hitches. I would love to see a battery powered variant, improved ergonomics on the handle and possibly a "second" independently adjustable guard in front of the blade to help with curves and dulling blades. My neighbor ordered one after seeing mine in action for the first time. Still running great in 2021!

Was very pleasantly surprised...
I was a bit apprehensive about the performance of an electric edger on the Floratam sod (that is so common here in Florida), which had grown very thick over edges of the driveway and sidewalks in front of a home I recently purchased. I selected this item largely due to the glowing reviews I have read about it on many websites, and the fact that four major retailers in the area carried this exact model. Having once owned a gas edger, the first thing that struck me was how light this item was. Assembly was a cinch, and 5 minutes after unpacking the item I was ready to tackle the yard. I started down the side of the driveway, and after playing with the depth guide found a setting that worked very well cutting the thick overgrowth and maintaining contact with the edge guide. The first pass over everything was the most time consuming, as I had only edged with a string trimmer before, and the grass had overlapped the edge of the driveway and sidewalks by a couple inches in some areas. Since that first cut, maintaining it bi-weekly has been a breeze. The only downside I have found (other than having to drag a power cord around) is operation when the ground is wet. It does tend to clog, but cleaning it out is easy, and I found if I set the edge guide on the shallowest setting when the ground is wet, the problem is minimal. I feel that for a small or medium sized lawn, the advantages of this unit over a gas-powered version are many, and trenching is also a very easy task. I would highly recommend this unit over the string trimmer and gas-powered alternatives to anyone with a moderate sized yard (the primary disadvantage on a large yard would of course be the availability of ac power).

A good edger for the money.
This item edges with a blade, not a piece of monofilament. The blade creates a "trench" in the dirt like and old-fashioned gasoline edger. In my opinion, it creates a more attractive edge on the grass than a string trimmer. However, because I want the most perfect edge possible, I still have go over some spots with electric hand shears. I had to do this with a string trimmer too. Go slowly the first time you use it to get the trench started. Once you've created a trench in the dirt, the second time will go faster. It's powerful enough to get the job done. And it's easy to use (just pull the trigger). The blade depth is adjustable. Black + Decker says that you can use this device to dig a narrow-depth trench in the yard (for cables, etc.). I've never used it for this purpose, but I believe it would probably work (as long as you don't need the trench to be very deep). Dislikes: The blade angle is not adjustable. I have a sloped curb next to the street. When edging in this location, I have to lift one side and hold the unit at a slight angle. If it blade angle was adjustable, it would make things easier and more precise. I'm giving the unit three stars instead of four for this reason.
