Makita 199140-0 1 Metre Guide Rail

I mean not much to say really. It’s a Makita product, so feels great, it’s straight, it’s light and makes cutting straight a doddle with my circular saw (with adapter). The only issue I had was trimming the splinter guard which was a bit tricky, especially at the start. This is more to do with my setup rather than the product though. Oh remember to throw in a couple of clamps too if you haven’t got any as this makes it even easier to use.

Very good quality guides for circular saw and routers. Seller’s customer service is excellent as I had some questions about using my Ryobi router as Ryobi don’t make cutting guides. They provided exactly the information I needed very quickly even confirming the 3rd party guide rail adapter I’d purchased for my Ryobi router would work with the Mikita rail with no issues. ☺️

As a big fan of Makita tools it was a no brainier to choose this guide rail for those jobs that don’t need the longer guide rails for cutting boards, just like the longer rails it enables the user to effortlessly cut boards straight and with absolute accuracy up to the line cuts, I use a bigger saw with the adapter plate as it’s limited to cut really thick timber with the plunge saw so this is ideal for me, a great asset to my ever expanding tool collection and at a great price too, what’s not to love about it 👍🙏

Used with a 120V Makita plunge/track saw. I combine several of these (I have 4 different lengths) with the Makita splice strips to get a variety of lengths. I have used up to 16 foot runs (for long perimeter board cuts on a composite deck picture frame style install) and obtained laser-straight cuts that look very good. It goes without saying that shorter lengths even easier as there is no splice. One thing to note is that these come with soft sponge rubber strips on the bottom that are what hold them in place ... they work amazingly well not needing any other adhesion (at least on Timbertech boards). On the long runs I still added a bit of Gorilla tape just to be sure I didn't get a shift, but that was probably overkill. I bought the Makita bags to carry these, and protect them, and they work well. However, the ends are quite sharp and subject to impact denting - so I also 3D printed some end caps that I put on as well just for good measure (a variety of different ones are available on the various STL free sites). These end caps can also be purchased pre-made online if you search a bit. Combining these with the Makita (fit Festool as well apparently) plunge saw largely eliminates the need for my circular/table saw, and in my opinion is definitely a lot safer.
