The best little coffee maker I've ever used!
I have had this same unit (and its "big brother") for at least five years and absolutely LOVE IT! So, when a family member requested a coffee percolator for Xmas, THIS is what I chose for them... I love it for several reasons. First, and most important, it makes wonderful, VERY hot coffee. Because it makes such hot coffee, the taste of even a "so-so" brand is significantly improved, and the taste of a great coffee becomes OUTSTANDING! (You cannot get the high brewing temperatures from an automatic drip coffee maker, thus making this percolator far superior to all of them, even though it lacks a few "handy features" like an automatic timer) Second, it is reliable. As noted above, we've had this model for at least five years and have never had a single problem with it... It works as designed every time! Third, it is fast! It takes less than five minutes from start to finish to have a full pot of steaming hot coffee ready to drink. Fourth, No waste! It makes one large mug and one regular mug of coffee for each full pot (or four small cups)... So, say goodbye to wasted coffee! With the price of coffee, wasting it is almost a crime... (We have its "big brother" for when we have company and that one makes four large mugs or 8 small cups) Fifth, it is EASY and very simple to use. There's nothing complicated about it, in fact, a 6 year old can easily do it for you if you let them. Sixth, it is easy to clean. All the parts except for the body of it can go into the dishwasher or be washed in hot, soapy dishwater. I recommend scrubbing it thoroughly at least once a week to keep the stains away as it is always easier to keep them at bay than to get rid of them once they appear. If one is fairly lazy and doesn't want to do more than just rinse it out daily, then you can run vinegar through a cycle once a week to keep it shiny too... The only downside that I can think of are that it does not have an automatic timer, but it's so fast, who cares? To be even faster, it can be prepared at night and simply plugged in when you get up. It is fairly small, which is perfect for two good sized cups or 4 small ones, but if you want more than that, you have to refill it or simply buy a larger pot instead or in addition. That's why we have two sizes. Normally, the small pot is just perfect for us. But several times a year, we have overnight guests (or dinner guests) and need more coffee. We'd normally only buy the larger one, BUT the larger sized percolators really are NOT good at making small pots of coffee~! I'm guessing it is because of the inaccuracy of water to coffee ratio not being "just right" when trying to use a large model to a small model's job. Bottom line: this small model works perfectly, is just the right amount, and is well worth the purchase price for those couples who each just want one, fairly large, great cup of coffee each every morning or for the single person who wants two big cups every morning...

Forget The Myth
This method of brewing coffee has a reputation for being outdated. I've read remarks over the years that percolator coffee produces burnt, bitter coffee. Surely all of the more recently developed methods for a *regular cup of joe* are superior. I didn't get this for coffee (you can make tea in this), but my mom wanted to make coffee the minute she saw it. She said she had a 12-cup of the same back in the day and used it for years. She liked it very much, but got taken with the trend of using a then-newfangled automatic drip coffee maker. After adjusting the coffee bean grinder to coarse and giving this percolator a try, I was stunned at how smooth and hot this coffee turned out! Not only is it piping hot, it stays that way for far longer than any other home brewing method. The percolator automatically stops brewing in a reasonably short time and keeps the coffee warm. You can hear the transition from one function to another. In light of this, it seems the legend of percolator coffee being burnt and bitter might stem from using a stovetop model that's un- or under-attended🤷🏻♀️My mom lamented that unlike this unit, older models of Farberware percolators had a little red light to indicate brewing. Would be nice if that feature made a comeback. I also appreciate that I don't need as much coffee grounds to brew tasty coffee; your results may vary. I'm fed up with pod brewers that last 1.5 years before needing replacement. I'm also trying to get away from the plastic that most any drip method has. There's no glass to break here, which is a plus. If this splendid little coffee maker lasts longer than that bulky water pump sitting in my kitchen, what a reclaim of counter space that would be! That is, if you're willing to clean the percolator after it's just cooled down. The main body can't go in the dishwasher (the inner components can). The kettle must be carefully washed by hand to avoid getting the electrics wet. That's a dealbreaker for many. If you don't mind that, and the durability proves to be impressive, this percolator will make you a hot, classic cuppa joe.

My new favorite appliance
When my little drip coffee maker kicked the bucket and I needed a replacement, I decided to try a 4 cup electric percolator instead of a new drip coffee maker, with the following hopes: - It would be easy to keep clean. - It would make a hotter cup of coffee. - It would be quick. - I wouldn't need to use filters. - The coffee would taste good (I like strong coffee, but not bitter). After about a month of use, I'm happy to say that most of my hopes have been fulfilled. - It is so easy to keep clean, which of course contributes to consistently good coffee. - The coffee is so hot that I have to wait for it to cool before I can drink it. If I want milk, I don't have to worry about it cooling my coffee too much! - It's pretty quick, 3 or 4 minutes to brew 2 cups. About the same as my little drip brewer used to be. - I find that I still prefer to use a paper filter, although when I don't, there are still fewer grounds in my coffee than there used to be when I used the mesh filter that came with my old drip machine. - The coffee is wonderful. I don't mind Folgers and Maxwell House; I drink either on weekday mornings to save money, and they do taste much better perc'ed. But on the weekends, I treat myself to fresh ground "specialty" beans, and I can really taste the difference! With the drip maker, everything tasted kind of the same. Additionally, I've found that I use less ground coffee to make the same strength of brewed coffee (I don't know if that's because the water temperature is hotter). A few tips that I've found helpful (found either from reviews here or elsewhere online): - Make sure that the washer at the base of the tube is free and rattling, not stuck to the fixed washer. Otherwise, the coffee will not perc long enough and it'll be weak. - Wetting the basket before adding the ground coffee keeps the grounds in the basket better. - If you don't want to use a filter and you don't want sediment, use an ounce or so more water than you want, and don't pour the dregs into your mug. I'm very happy with my new percolator. And it's cute, too! Update: The percolator worked beautifully for more than 5 years, but has now stopped working. 5 years is not terrible for a small appliance that sees daily use, but I'd hoped for better. I debated replacing it with a new one exactly the same, but I've decided to try a Hamilton Beach percolator instead.

Makes the most delicious cup.
Hands down, makes the best cup of coffee I've had. I never used a percolator before I bought this one and it does have a slight learning curve (had to adjust my measurements - I use a bit more grounds than in a drip coffee maker). As the other reviews say, this does brew at a higher temperature than drip or a Keurig style coffee machine, which is great for me as I use a ton of creamer - it is still very hot after adding. I wish it had auto shut-off or even an "off" button, but so far I've remembered to unplug it after I'm done. It's easy to take apart and clean up once it's cooled down a bit. It takes up very little space on my counter (I mean it is tiny) so would be great for anyone lacking counter space. I get 2 big cups of coffee plus a bit more out of it. The stainless steel is very sleek and shiny. As long as it's plugged in, your coffee will stay hot although I do recommend unplugging no more than 30 minutes after you brew so your coffee doesn't get scorched. After it's unplugged coffee stays hot for at least an hour. I have noticed a speck or two of grounds does make its way into the pot but considering how delicious it brews that is no problem at all in my opinion. It cost less than my drip coffee machine did too. This was one of the best purchases I've made in a long time, highly recommend!

Perfect cup of coffee
Let me start out by saying I've had percolators for years and needed to downsize. This makes a great cup of coffee. For those who complain about grounds they make filters for that. I get the wrap around and they work perfectly no grounds. It is a little loud but for a good cup of coffee it's worth it. I will say it's the perfect size for those who don't want a lot of coffee or who live alone.

Makes great tasting coffee!
I bought this coffee maker to take on vacation to a hours that didn’t have Keurig . I tried it before going and Wow! That was a great cup of coffee. I haven’t used anything else since. It’s easy to clean, keeps the coffee warm, and doesn’t take up much space. I love it.

Brews good, but questionable life usability
I have had this item for about 14 months, and it is starting to show signs of wear and needing replacement. It sporadically brews weak coffee, although the percolating action doesn't sound any different from when it was first bought. I adding more coffee to the basket for another attempt, but it still created weak coffee. Could be the percolator heating element is either defective, or doesn't have a long useful lifespan. I was all set to replace it (a week ago) and it has been, again, brewing coffee to my desired taste. It does not have an on/off button or auto shut off. It must be unplugged or it will stay on until one notices this and unplugs it. I like my specialty coffee (Burundi) and Keurig k-cups are not effective at extracting good flavor. A coffee press is a bit of work (and the plunger broke when I switched to this method).
