Almost perfect
The protector is smaller than a normal dress shirt pocket. This means that it will pull down on the pocket and doesn't look quite right. The other issue is because it is smaller, it will not fit normal pens and mechanical pencils. The purpose of a pocket protector is to protect your shirt from ink/marker stains when they are SECURED in your pocket. The clip they have holds them to the shirt so they don't fall out if you lean over. If you put your pen or mechanical pencil in the center of it, it will barley clip and that is another problem as the bottom of it is shaped like an arrow point and a dress shirt pocket is flat across the pocket. If you look closely at the picture they use, you can see the above things I have described and that their shirt is an outdoor corduroy shirt which has a shallower pocket than a dress shirt so the pull/sag on the pocket isn't as noticeable. If this is the type of shirt you wear then this is perfect for you, however if you wear dress shirts like I do, it just falls short of perfect. If the company ever makes one that will fit a dress shirt and is longer for the pens to be secured I will definitely purchase it in a heart beat. The quality of the leather and the stitching is outstanding.

Pocket protector
Okay so I’m a geek...I got this as everytime I lean over, all the pens and screwdrivers fall out of my lab coat. Drove me crazy. Was always joking that I’m gonna get a pencil protector. When I saw this, I thought why not. It was cheap enough that if it didn’t work it was no biggie.Turns out it does what I hoped. My pens and stuff stay in my pocket when I lean over. Yaay!I ran a cloth soaked in IPA as some of the dye was coming off and staining my lab coat. Some of my co workers said they liked it. I told them, yeah I’m a geek get over it. Turns out they really did like it LOL.

Strong Belt Loop
This looks and functions exactly as it does in the photos. Functions for shirt pockets, pants pockets, or belts. I don't always wear shirts with pockets, so many of the leather pocket protectors that I see online won't work for me. It's the only pen-pencil holder that I could find with a loop for a belt. I prefer leather to plastic, nylon, or other synthetic materials. The belt loop looks strong, I'm hoping that this holds up for the long term, believe that it will! Giving it four to five stars.

For shorter pens
Belt loop pocket protector, not a thick leather. It's short and none of my full-size pens clip into it. Leather is smooth and flexible. Stitching looks secure.

Nice in a shirt pocket, lousy hooked to a belt.
Looks nice , well packaged. Not really good as a holster style. It lasted all of 3 hors, then the very cheap thread broke, and it fell on the floor.

Great holder for pen and pencils on the belt
Wow, been using this for some time and very durable, really enjoy the belt loop it has, great on the belt, nothing falls out, can have my pen and pencils with my ruler and sharpie. If you do any wood work or in construction, or just around the house, you got to get one.

dressier but narrow
nice looking for a pocket protector...only slight problem is the fold down on the front is so thick it's a bit hard to get the clip on the pen over it...but other than that, it's fine. Would prefer if it had been wider more to the measurement of the standard pocket 3 1/2...this one is only 3" so it doesn't hold as much...

As advertised.
I was looking at a similar, heavily-promoted, heavily-reviewed project from Hide and Drink, but it didn't have the belt loop, so I took a chance on this product, which had no reviews. Saved myself a dollar, too. Picked it up today, and I'm pretty impressed. The leather is thick and sturdy, and not too scarred. It fits a thin pocket knife (Kershaw Chill), AAA flashlight, and a pen without much issue. The only problem I can foresee is making every pocket clip worthless on other pockets, as the leather is doubled where your items clip on, and very thick.
