Get one. Get TWO. DO IT! NOW!!!
Seriously, this is pretty much the ULTIMATE budget EDC flashlight on the market right now. Cheap, durable, simple, bright as heck, handy, perfectly sized, and runs on a single AA battery - what's not to love? The zoom feature is handy at times, especially for distant things where you need to focus the light on a specific thing. The pocket clip is strong - almost TOO strong, really. The on/off button is good, although I wish that it wasn't recessed like it is because you need to dig the tip of your thumb in slightly to actuate it (a button that protrudes slightly so you can actuate it with the pad of your thumb would be nicer), but it's not a deal-breaker at all, and it keeps it from accidentally getting clicked on.I do have a few gripes: 1. The battery life is relatively short (hey, you ARE squeezing a lot of light out of ONE AA BATTERY), 2. The sharp ridges behind the pocket clip pretty much require you to get out a file and trim things down smoother so it doesn't SHRED your pocket's edge and so it's easier to take off and put on, 3. More than once, I've pinched the skin of my fingers with that little zoom thing if it slides out and then back accidentally, 4. There is such a thing as TOO BRIGHT, so at times this can actually "wash out" things you might be trying to view up close, and 5. If you tighten the cap too much or not enough, it loses electrical contact and you have to fiddle with the cap or thump it a time or two to get the light to work, although it's not a common problem. Oh yeah, and forget about the "defensive edge" at the front of the light - the whole thing is so small that it disappears in my fist if I grip it (I have average-sized hands), and the light weighs practically nothing, so there's very little advantage in using this for defensive purposes.Seriously, for as cheap and well-made and effective as these little lights are, I can't see why on earth people would spend $75 or more on some fancy SureFire or Streamlight or whatever, especially when those use fancy and expensive CR123 batteries - AA batteries are much cheaper, much easier to find ANYWHERE, and you can buy rechargeable versions to save even more money.

Good Light
This flashlight is not as bright as two other 300 lumens flashlights that I currently own. It's bright, but not 300 lumen bright. It's hard for me to really tell by comparing flashlights side by side on the exact lumens. With that being said, it's the brightest 1 AA battery flashlight that I own now. I thought my 100 lumen lightstar 100 was bright for a 1 AA battery but this light is way brighter, at least twice as bright. My lightstar was twice the money but it is constructed better. This light seems to be constructed ok, but only time will tell. This light is a good buy for the money. If the flashlight holds up, in the future I might buy the other rechargeable battery that this light can take, people claim it will make it brighter; I'll report back on that someday. Great buy, not 300 lumen on 1 AA battery anyhow. I'm still giving this light 5 stars because it's so small, bright and really cheap.UPDATE: Aug. 28, 2012: Finally bought some 14500 batteries; I bought 2 with a charger, I think I got some bad batteries because the light only burns for 20 minutes with them; has to be bad batteries. Anyhow, I just wanted to say WOW!; This little light has to be 300 lumens with these batteries, so I guess they weren't lying when they said this light can reach 300 lumens. Guess I'll buy me some more batteries of a different brand and hopefully get some good ones next time. This light is truly amazing with the 14500 batteries, blows my nebo's out of the water, and I have the nebo SE also. For this light's size with 14500 rechargeable battery I don't think there is a light on earth that is brighter, at least not yet. Oh, still a nice light with regular batteries too, just not amazing.

Great for price, quality and size; just don't expect it to really be 300lmns.
I ordered this light on a whim after losing two of my nicer flashlights in the same month. I do a fair amount of camping, hiking and other outdoor activities, but I mostly use flashlights when walking my dog through some trails near my house every night. So while browsing Amazon, I searched for flashlights to see if there were any decent deals. The CREE 7W 300 LED immediately caught my eye because of its claimed lumen output, size, many high rating customer reviews and, of course, price. Thinking it was two good to be true I did some research and there are many people saying that the light they got was not the exact same that was advertised. Some mentioned getting a similar light in size, appearance and output, but with 4 modes (high, mid, low and strobe). Others said that the light was completely faulty and didn't function at all, while others said that though the light is good, it isn't 300lmns. The reason is because their are many different sellers of this light, and many different manufacturers. Some chose to order from overseas and wait the 30 days so they could be sure they were getting it from the right manufacturer, others, like myself, wanted it in 2 days using Prime. Since ordering, I have noticed the seller change 3 times. The light I received looked exactly like the pictures. Under the LED head cap "CREE" is clearly stamped next to the LED (this is the type of LED, not brand or manufacturer). I threw in a somewhat used AA I had and pushed the button. I was surprised with the quality of the light it threw, in brightness, consistency and color. I used the adjustable zoom to give it more throw and at its narrowest, the light shined very bright in a rectangular, almost electrical electrical circuit shape. After putting in a new battery, I took it out on my walk. It is the perfect amount of light, very bright when zoomed in, and decent flood zoomed out. The output is DEFINITELY NOT 300lmn. Maybe with the other type of battery that can be used , and before the light leaves the cap and refractor mirrors, it is technically 300lmns, but not in normal use. Despite this, I am very happy with the light, for its price and quality. I didn't expect this to match-up with my $30 Maglite 250XLL, which only throws 200 some odd lumens, but it had more out then I expected. The zoom function is fantastic. This is a great, low priced but certainly not "cheap" light. Great for any activity the normal person would need a flashlight for. Because it is so inexpensive, I don't worry about losing it. I would definitely recommend this and will be buying more. I gave it 4 stars because it is not 300lmns as advertised and because I was half hoping that the one I received came with the multiple light modes. Definitely buy a few of these guys.
