The GAOAG quadcopter/drone is great fun and easy to fly. We couldn’t wait to take it for a test flight and loved how easy it is to fly and land. It has upgraded the options from their mini-drone that we have to include a hover (elevation hold) mode as well as a one-button landing mode. The headless mode makes flying forward super easy as the drone rotation of the drone doesn’t matter, remote stick up = forward. The remote includes indicator lights for battery level, headless mode, etc so you know he stays at all times. The package includes spare parts as well as improvements in labeling the blades with rotational directions. The app for the iPhone (I assume for android as well) provides easy connection to the drone over WiFi with a live feed and the ability to capture still pictures as well. The WiFi connection is between the drone and phone and doesn’t need any other devices, it is easy to establish and has great range and provides a warning indicator if you go too far. As far as durability we tested that too as I am not a good pilot as my 16-year-old son. I crashed it into a tree about 20 feet off the ground, it tumbled through the tree and was ready for take-off again. Additionally, we brought it into the house to use with our GAOAG mini-drone and found that it was very easy to maneuver (for my son) and very responsive. He was able to fly it through the hall and up and down the stairs with ease.One other thing to note is that when we had a question with our other drone the customer support is excellent, responsive and the use of video to provide guidance and feedback is well done and expedites the process.I would highly recommend this product as we are planning on having a ton of fun with it, I also plan on using it to check my roof and gutters without having to get out the ladder.I would recommend getting additional batteries as you will want to keep flying once you start.

First, a few caveats:I have competed at amateur level with RC cars using professional grade equipment.All RC devices have certain limitations due to the real world physics and common sense.Real helicopters have a means of active descent where the propeller pushes the aircraft down. This drone does not. It relies on gravity to descend. In a strong wind, this drone will not descend.I understand the difference between a toy and a sophisticated RC device.Reading instructions for ANY complex electronic device is very important.Now for the review:It is very deserving of 5 stars.This is a great toy. It is a great starter drone for the novice remote control young person or adult. I bought this drone for my son as a Christmas present. Both of us have enjoyed flying it and watching each other fly it. It was a little smaller than I expected. I provided a picture with a gallon milk jug for you.I insisted my son read the directions. Key points are:Batteries need to cool before recharging. Charge time is around 100 minutes.Flight time is advertised 15min. We experience 10-13minutes depending on how much time we spend landing/taking off.Motors require 10 minutes cool-down time between flights (according to the instructions). We have used a stopwatch on our iPhone to help us keep track of time.Wind is very bad. Do not fly in wind. Our experience has been >5mph and/or gusts are to be AVOIDED.My daughter pointed them out to me.The range is 100 meters (according to the instructions).Our experience:We configure the gyro every flight.We spent several flights indoors. First, just taking off/landing. We graduated to moving around the front room, down the hall, upstairs, etc….First flight outside was in the>5mph wind. We did not take the drone over 5’. Fighting the wind was the primary focus. While able to nose down into the wind, we imagined how the wind could take the drone.Hitting the corner of the wall in between the propeller guards produce a very disturbing crunch. However, we have not had any damage. Tumbling off the side of a landing pad coffee table looks bad, but there has been no damage.Concerned about range, we paced off 100 meters down the street. I carried the drone while my son turned the motors on/off about every 15 seconds. Control was intermittent at about 80 meters. Communication was completely lost at about 130 meters.On calm days, the rate of descent is very slow. I have a little bit of anxiety not being able to just drop out of the sky. However, the rate is such that it will not crash unless it loses power completely.When the drone is nearly out of power, the running lights flash.When the drone determines it is out of battery power, it descends on its own. Be certain the drone is near a landing area when nearly out of power.I like this drone. I might get one for myself. After we become proficient with this drone, we are planning to share cost for upgrading to a professional grade drone.Statement concerning bad reviews: I was concerned about some of the bad reviews. I bought this drone anyways. I have decided that those reviewers either did not read and/or follow the instructions, are not aware of limitations of sophisticated electronic RC toys, do not understand that breakage will occur, or are not yet skilled in operating RC equipment.

This is a really cool drone. I recommend this one for those who are ready to begin upgrading from beginner to hobbyist. It has an intelligent flight battery for approximately 15 minutes, —however, I Recommend getting another battery to a minimum the wait time to full charge. Contractors and roofers will like this drone. I made this video of a rental property that needs some roof repairs. The video feed is clear enough to see all the defects to the top of the house.There is quite a bit of feature here, with GPS you get the follow me mode and programmable waypoints to send the drone on an autopilot mission and returning on its own when it completes. The camera is surprisingly good, giving a really crisp and clear image in both photo and video modes, good with color. I used it to take some night time Pictures and then the same area in the daytime. Auto Return to home feature and geofencing is also included. It needs to be calibrated for each flight, so far as I know of, but it’s easy once you do it a few times. The onboard settings allow up to 500 Meters in range, low battery return to home was a good idea, too. Plenty of spare parts, and a cell phone cradle is built on the remote. Variable speeds. Great drone for its class. Thank you
