Simplicity Sewing Pattern 2159: Misses' Costumes, Size R5 (14-16-18-20-22)

I measured myself at a 20 and decided to go for the larger 22. Still a bit tight. Looser is better. But VERY useful and easy.

The pattern itself can result in a beautiful costume. The pattern sewing directions are very confusing. If I had not already had extensive experience with using patterns, I don't know that I could have put the costume together with the instructions provided. Also, the size chart is a joke. Luckily, I already knew that the size charts were unreliable. I usually wear a size 14 but according to this pattern chart, I wear a 22. And yes, I was using the US sizing chart.

I love this coat. I use upholstery fabric for this style costuming and it was still easy to use with the napped layout.

I recommend it for Cosplay or as an oriental dance costume (might have to put in a gusset if the cloth used is not flexible enough) The description was a bit confusing but I was going to add modifications anyway. I had the HH pattern (my usual size 12) and the partner pattern 2158 (which features the skirt and bra) given to me as a belated Christmas present because it was shipped out from the States. I underestimated this cut. This cut is very tapered and after cutting out and sewing a prototype in 12, I realized I needed the larger size (16). I thought I had to wait another 8 weeks for this pattern. Then I found it in the UK and in 4 days it was already in my hands. Very very happy! Quick and prompt service! This order and product has the full 5 Stars.

Great pattern. But not clear in text pattern includes over dresses but not the skirts
