A great and simple intro to Buddhism
Thank you for this very simple introduction into Buddhism. This is a great book for someone beginning their conscious awakening. It is also a great reminder of how the process begins and changes us all. Thank you Ian, for being so open in sharing your journey as this brings unity.

Great book
This book was exactly what I was looking for. I've always been interested in Buddhism & I recently felt the need to become more spiritual. Most buddhism books are overwhelming with tons of information, which is great for some people, but I needed a book that was simplified & brief yet informative. This book is just that. It was an easy read; easy to understand & well written. The only reason why I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is because there were quite a few grammatical & spelling errors, which was pretty annoying. The author even gives recommendations on further readings, so I went ahead and ordered the Dhammapada, which I just received today.

Thank you!
Hey manI just read this book and I loved it!I really appreciate the care you have for others, how you gave us links and recommendations for other sources of information in order to expand our knowledge of the teachings of Buddha.Let me tell ya I definitely felt the same way as you and many others when it comes to unfulfilling jobs and western culture as a collective whole. Now that I'm getting in touch with myself and the cycles of nature I'm starting to love life a lot more and I want to inspire others to change for the better as well.Looks like light workers like you and me (in the near future once I learn more) have lots of good work to do!Love ya man and keep up this excellent workIt's truly inspiring and very necessary

Good First Look at Buddhism
This is a good, enjoyable book but some weak references and grammar hurt the overall impression. This is an ebook that seems too have been quickly translated into print format without an editor giving it a once-over.But, that being said, I have read many "intro to Buddhism" type books recently and you could do worse than this one. If you are just looking to get an idea of what Buddhism is and how you can begin to explore it, this is a good start. If you have already learned the basics and are ready for more, you may want to look elsewhere.

I wish I had read this one first because the author uses plain language that is easy to understand and summarizes Buddhist concepts
The book contained many editing errors, but they didn't detract from the overall message. Some of the anecdotes in the book were a little cheesy, but relatable. I had just read The Heart of Buddha's Teaching by Thich Nhat Hanh, which was much more in depth, but also much harder to understand than this book. I wish I had read this one first because the author uses plain language that is easy to understand and summarizes Buddhist concepts. I definitely feel a greater push towards practicing Buddhism now thanks to this book.

Great book to start
I’ve been interested in Buddhism for years but too lazy and too many excuses to investigate its value. I started meditating several years ago on and off and the interest arose again. After becoming overwhelmed by so many books to choose from I chose this one. It’s perfect for a beginner. In plane layman’s terms it explains the basics. Now I’m interested in digging deeper. It’s not as intimidating. The author makes it a fun read but informative as well, and he includes his own experiences as a westerner. Thank you for my start to enlightenment

All in all, this is a wonderful collection of writings that should be on every aspiring Buddhist’s bookshelf.
Over the last couple of years I’ve been immersing myself more and more into the teachings of the Buddha and I think this was a very solid introduction to Buddhism. It discussed in plain language what Buddhism is (and is not), why someone would want to incorporate Buddha’s teachings into his or her life, the true essence, three main branches and five basic principles of Buddhism, as well as some invaluable information on karma, rebirth and reincarnation. Moreover, the art of meditation, and where and how to start, as well as the multitude of benefits of practicing Buddhism. Another inclusion that I really appreciated was the list of resources that was also included. All in all, this is a wonderful collection of writings that should be on every aspiring Buddhist’s bookshelf.

A very good intro to Buddhism
This very well written book was just perfect for learning the principles of Buddhism and meditation. The book is inspiring, makes you take a good look at your life and encourages you to make the necessary changes where needed. It’s easy to read and understand and concise enough that you finish the book in a couple of sittings. Highly recommended

Ok
It's free and, for the most part, it does what it says on the cover - it explains Buddhism. But....the spelling / grammar is appalling and, personally, I think it could have been thought through better and perhaps laid out in a more logical order. Can't say that I would recommend it.

Excellent, informative and perfect for beginners
I really liked this book as it breaks down the necessary stages to get started, it can also be used as a reference. I will recommend this book to anyone considering to start their journey in buddhism, the author is very good at re-evaluating and breaking each principle step by step, I will be following more of the authors books whilst in the early stages...

Insightful words but bad grammar
The author speaks of many good points and helps to create clear differences between the teachings and common misconceptions of Buddhism, but occasionally makes inaccurate generalisations. The book's main aim is to be a simple and clear guide to Buddhism for beginners but the poor grammar contradicts the entire book's intent by making it difficult to read.I would say this book is good value for money due to the amount of knowledge given to you, but you will need to concentrate to get through the difficult grammar.
