Using Avia for work
I've gotten 3 versions of the Avia line of sneakers - the Avai Verge, the Avia Skill, and the Avia Union II - I'm going to write one review and cover all three. The Avia Verge is by far the worst of the bunch. While the fit is true to size I've found that these tend to wear fast and seem to be poorly constructed. I've been wearing these to work for two months and they are already worn through the sole and have developed a rip on the outside of the toe box. They do not claim to be slip resistant, and they are definitely NOT - don't purchase these if you work in a kitchen or on slippery/wet surfaces. The Avia Skill I would rate a little higher than the Verge. Unfortunately these seem to run a little smaller than the indicated size although they do a good job with slip resistance and generally keep water off my feet. They do not have the little pull tab on the back so if that's a feature you're looking for then you should take a pass on these. They also don't have the level of comfort I was getting from the Union II's (little thinner memory foam in the sole?). They just overall seem to be of a little lesser quality than the Union II's.The Union II's would be my best recommendation of the three types I've talked about. They are constructed well, comfortable, true to size, and while you "get what you're paying for" (typically in the $25-35 range) they will hold up good for 6-8 months. For me that works just fine since I'll just buy another brand new pair. Paying $60 a year for shoes and essentially having brand new shoes a couple times a year works much better than paying $100 and having nasty worn down shoes after 8 months.Hope this helps!

Love these shoes -- but get some good insoles.
I've never liked the idea of spending over $100 on a pair of sneakers. Plus I have wide feet. So these shoes are great for me. They cost approx. $25 and they come in wide sizes. They are comfortable and look decent. I remember in the 80s Avia was big; Robert Parish wore Avias. I always thought the cantilever soles were a great idea. Meaning the soles of these shoes have a hollowed-out portion in the heel area to help with cushioning. I guess Avia faced some problems and now they make inexpensive shoes. You (sort of) get what you pay for, in that the rubber soles wear out fairly quickly, and the memory foam insoles are not good. But for $25, you can replace them twice as often as an expensive pair of sneakers, and still come out ahead. Here's the key: Buy some good insoles and replace the insoles that come with these sneakers. On the occasions when I have bought expensive sneakers, I replace the insoles anyway, so that's not an additional cost for me with the Avias. (I know what insoles I like but I won't state it here because I know people would accuse this of being a secret ad for that insole company.)

Fit smaller than expected - Label with different size placed over original label
I ordered this show according to the width and size of the same make of shoe I'd previously had. But the fit seemed narrower and more snug than my older pair. What's more when I checked the labels on the tongue of each, I found one foot had a label placed over the original one indicating a different size. Tried to order a replacement a half size larger, but that size wasn't listed. And because I'm practicing safe distancing, I have to pay UPS to pick it up. Waste of my time AND money.

Was looking for a cheap shoe for a long car drive and found it
I was going on a 40 hour car drive and needed something comfortable for the drive. I don't wear shoes often (usually boots), so wanted something cheap that I wouldn't feel bad about buying and using for the trip and periodically when I don't want to put on my boots. I was kinda skeptical about them but needed something quick.First thoughts: The width seemed a bit tight right out of the box, but the overall fit was nice. It was snug around my foot, but toes had plenty of space. The shoes didn't feel cheap, were well padded, and very comfortable when on the road. I did my first long drive and really liked the feel. As I wore them, they seemed to relax a bit and the tightness went away. On my return trip, they were perfect!Final thoughts: I have been wearing them out to town when I don't want to wear boots as stated above. They are holding up pretty good so far and still quite comfortable. The only issue I've had so far with them is the inserts. When I pull my foot out, they bunch up. While not a bit deal, it can be annoying when I am in a hurry or not paying attention. Other than that, they seem really good. I'm a little curious to see just how long they last, but at the price, if they lasted a year or two I'd be happy.

Not sure how long they are supposed to last .
I’m not sure yet what others experienced with these shoes as for myself, I can say not much because they haven’t lasted long. I got these on July 3rd. Probably wore them July 5th to work. I walk an average of 6 miles a day . Not the fastest shoe I went through but probably the second fastest . But def the worst constructed. I have never seen any fall apart like this so fast .July 5th was the first day I wore them it is sept 18th and this is where we are at. Doesn’t mean I won’t considering get another pair I just need something until I get my annual uniform allowance . Welp...see ya later !

Update: oh the horror.
Avia shoes were some of my favorite in terms of comfort. Still wish they did their hard souls over memory foam.. because they were always the best and lasted me forever. These however didn’t last a month.. part time. The memory foam ruined a pair of decent shoes.. as working part time as a cashier completely destroyed the memory foam. Causing it to feel like your walking on bruises.. This company really needs to get their heads back on the game before they get sued for the “pain and trauma/emotional abuse” their products cause. These are work shoes, they should last more then 40hrs a month on your feet, by an average built person.

Avia Men's Avi-verge Sneaker
Inexpensive but nice...especially for the price. If they last a year or so they're still a bargain. I've had similar Avia before and they lasted much better than much more expensive (i.e., $100+ New Balance) sneakers where the inside material that rubs against the heel quickly wore out, the front outside toe area came apart, and the bottoms came apart. So, yeah. These are a great bargain in comparison. I bought insoles for arch support to wear in them and I'm satisfied and would definitely buy again.

The best you can buy.
The best you can buy, their sizing is great and the cantilever sole is excellent for posture.

Avia Sneaker
Unbelievable shoes for an unbelievable price. Bought these as an Xmas gift and was a little concerned since I had never heard of these shoes and went by the reviews. The person I got these for loves them. He has Nike, Adidas, New Balance etc., and finds these shoes more comfortable than any of the high priced shoes. Shoes are true to size and look exactly like picture. Great purchase.

Perfect Fit!
This is the first time I have ordered a pair of shoes online. Usually I would go to a store to try them to make sure they fit perfect. The price was great and I really like the style. Black is my preferred color and these shoes are not only great looking but they fit as expected. I ordered 10.5 Wide U.S. since that was what my previous shoes were and these fit perfectly. They are comfortable and hopefully they will also be durable. No regrets on this purchase.
