A good and detailed book, either for high school study or just by pure personal interest.
The book is very detailed right from when starting with the definition of life and the chemistry of life until last in the book, where we with the beginning on the side 197 then are getting 64 sides going into the debt about the RNA and DNA, and their connections. Already on the sides 61 – 63 we in connection to the Amino Acid get the first introducing to RNA and DNA on a figure with good information. And on the side 200 getting a good drawing which shows how respectively the “arms” between the A and T and the C and G molecules are connected when they bind together the two helix in DNA; normally we in books only see the DNA helixes connected by the letters A-T and C-G.So the book is good either for self-study or to use in school by being so detailed, and having many figures, tables, and notes, and on separate lines in each chapter explaining the new science word we there have to do with, and ending each of the chapters with Review Questions and answers. And among the figures we at many are getting are having processes illustrated, as for example the whole side figure 6.5 “Catabolism of molecules from food”, on which we see the food getting in either as Fats, Carbohydrates, or Proteins, and having 3 places to out as ATP (energy). Or for example on the figure 6.8 getting the Citric Acid Cycle, with the 9 changing points on the circle. Or some figures with the Mendel’s crossing results when we get to the reading about the genetics.Since I finishing high school way back in 1965, then now by reading this book I refreshed what I then learned, and newer used since the education. And here of cause getting a bit more, as result of more details discovered by science since what was known when printing the books used way back in high school. So again, a detailed book to read from cover to cover without searching help elsewhere.

Too introductory
I thought it would be more complex. It super introductory like freshmen year highschool honors bio. Its not a review book for professionals or if you're studying for an advanced test like mcat.

Textbook? Really? Who is Infonential, Inc.?
The book matter was dry, as expected for a so-called textbook, but it did seem to be a good collection of the basic terms needed to acquaint the novice to beginning cellular biology. However, it gave the appearance of having been put together from a collection of quotes and notes from others in the field (just guessing) without actually stating their names or credentials. The author seems to have little actually firsthand 'profesdional' knowledge of cellular biology. Statements we're regularly made as matter-of-fact, then dropped without any explanation to clarify (or support) the claim. For example, the term evolution was used liberally thoughout the book as if it was not only scientific fact but also universally accepted, neither of which is true. Actually, the more that is learned about the intricacies of the workings of life at the cellular level, the less likely the theory of neo-Darwism will ever be proven. Regardless, the author makes reference to it again and again as if just using the term held more weight for one to believe a topic under discussion than did the actual scientific research that had been done supporting the specific topic. There were almost no references or credits in the entire book. I have never heard of such a thing for a reputable scientific document. Nor did the author (who claims to have written more than 150 scientific 'papers') give credit to any other co-authors or contributors. And where are the names of the scientist peers who reviewed this document/book?Other than the author, the only other meaningful responsible party named was a company called Infonential, Inc. - an obscure company that existed from 2006 until 2013 and was dissolved 2 years before this book was published! Sketchy, at the least. Certainly no long term accountability there. This book woefully lacks credentials and verifiable peer reviews. Hopefully, it isn't being used by any high schools or universities anywhere.
