The Beatitudes: Developing Spiritual Character (John Stott Bible Studies) Paperback – May 30, 2008

What a great study! Imagine the beatitudes as one long message, built upon each other, and understanding God from that vantage point! It is an eye-opener, especially Spiritually! Our church went through an 8 week series on each beatitude. It will draw you closer to God in a deeper and more fulfilling way!

This study on the Beatitudes is so good! I highly recommend it.

My Small Group is loving this Bible Study. It has the perfect combination of factual questions, what do you think questions, and application questions. Every summer I look for a six week study that will accomadate people with a very busy schedule but also allow those that enjoy exploring the bible to spend more time in the word. The self discovery method of the study works out great along with some short commentary filtered throughout to help guide participants along the way.

The book is fine, but it is not what I thought it was. I was looking for more content than a question format. He raised a lot of questions but didn't give much information. Perhaps I misunderstood the originalpurpose. However, the questions are helpful and provides application. The teacher or leader would have to "dig" from several other sources to find the answers to the questions. At least the study would help the student relate the passage to his life (and hopefully the leader would have other sources from which to draw the content.)

As always a Bible Study by John W.R. Stoot is an excellent study of the scriptures. I will use this as an in-depth personal study of Jesus Christ. There are addition resources for my study, however,this book and various Bible translations will form the heart of my study. The book challanges you to look at the teachings, life, and ministry of Jesus Christ. This study should allow you to have a greater knowledge of Jesus Christ, His life and ministry. The Bibical truths revealed should then be applied to our personal life.Wayne Bumgardner

This is a good study guide to generate discussion. I'd like a little more input 'comments' from the author to help clarify his interpretation of the scripture,

This is John Stott at his teaching best. His mission is to make the Beatitudes the hallmark of a mature Christian--to be Christ-like. Note how the characteristics end with the ability to withstand persecution, Certainly remote in America, but a growing reality in third world counties. John Stott writes as one whose life work has been built upon those few words. Tom Z

This study guide provides a guide through the beatitudes that deepens ones understanding and interpretation of Godly life principles beyond my expectation. I have led women's bible study for 11 years and the questions and scripture references allow for individuals and groups to grasp beyond the surface what Christ was teaching His followers about their heart condition before God and men. Highly recommend!

This study helps you to apply Jesus' teaching to your life. Each verse is given a separate study and it does not include the rest of the Sermon on the Mount. We used it with a group of friends who wanted to study this section of the Bible together. Not everyone was a native English speaker, and some of the language was a bit difficult in that context.

The book wasn't as long as I thought it was going to be and its Bible Study layout was not what I expected. But I should have probably read the reports more closely. The condition was excellent and I'm still glad I bought it as a useful extra resource on the Beatitudes.

Disappointing! Like another reviewer I didn't realise it was for group study. There are many questions but I was looking for answers! A rather superficial study of an extremely deep subject.

Excellent down to earth explanation of the Beatitudes. Refreshing and modern approach.Gives translations in a modern idiom based on recent information

I love studying the Bible. This book was used by a group, but as I wSnt able to attend each week, I bought the book to do it by myself.
