Is this compatible with a mac?

Yes it is compatible with Mac. We have an old Mac and the new printer went right to work. Setup instructions come for both Mac and PC. We needed this particular model to work with our eight year old Mac. Good luck

I recently purchased a dell computer with winds7 . I tried to connect my HP c4280 photosmart all in one copier and it says it is not comp for wind7.

This printer is compatable with Windows 10 because I own this. You just need to go to the HP wb site and download the newer drivers and it will work fine.

is this compatible with a samsung chromebook

It should be compatible with Samsung Chromebook. Software are available at HP Website. Samsung chromebook may also have the software that will automatically have the driver to setup the printer.

How do you connect to the internet?

The other computer, which is referred to as a client, has access only to the print features.
