Good choice for this level of quality
To start off, this is a decent mattress for the money you pay ($200-300 - however much it is this week). So here is a list of answered questions you may have about this bed while thinking of whether to buy it or not: - The smell does go away within a couple days, but you need to keep the room you have the mattress in aired out...must keep the flow of air moving. If you close the doors of the room, that smell gets trapped. And no, I didn't get a headache from the fumes/smell of the mattress. - Like any other mattress, it's best to buy one of those vinyl zippered mattress covers to keep the mattress from getting damaged by what you might accidentally spill on it...or anything else for that matter. It's like a mattress condom, and protects it just the same...I highly recommend getting one for this or any other mattress. Plus it covers up most of the "new foam mattress" smell pretty well. - The bed is a little stiff, but not too stiff. It would be nice if it was 5 or 6 inches of memory foam, but that will send you into the much more expensive realm of foam mattresses. If you are looking for something that is inexpensive and comfortable, this seems to be a good choice. There was something a bit humorous that came with the mattress, a 8.5x11 sheet of paper with the instructions, and a small note at the bottom saying, "We appreciate it if you give us a 5 star rating." So you know already it's not going to be a 5-star product. But I do believe that 3 inches of memory foam is better than 2 inches...and a total of 10 inches in height gives it a good solid base. All in all, this mattress is a heck of a lot better than an air mattress...and will probably last a lot longer, too. Please keep in mind, I have only been using this for a month now, so things may change with the mattress...or they may not. If something is amiss or problems arise, I will definitely note them on this review. But for now, 4 stars.

1 Month In - Comprehensive Review
Like many others I spent hours doing research on mattresses from Amazon, pouring over reviews. If you're like me, you appreciate the more detailed reviews that people write after actually spending some time with their mattress (not after the first night). I eventually went with this mattress given the many positive reviews, low price, and 4 lb. density foam, which many online sources suggest as the ideal memory foam density. My previous mattress was innerspring, but I have spent a few nights a week on my partner's memory foam mattress (purchased from a different Amazon seller) during the past six months, and I knew I liked it. I also have been using a firm memory foam pillow for the past two years. For this review, please note that I am a 6', 165 lb. 21-year-old (why more people do not state their weight when rating a mattress' firmness, I will never know). The package arrived quickly, was a pain to move, but the mattress unpacked fairly easily. However, the odor from off-gassing was immediately noticeable and VERY strong. After five minutes in the same room as the unpacked mattress, I started to get a headache. I rarely ever get headaches and I do not have a sensitive nose. I allowed the mattress to air out in a separate room for four or five days with windows open and fans running, and it still had a noticeable odor after this time. Most other reviewers noted a lack of strong off-gassing, so YMMV. At this time (one month in) there is still an odor when I put my nose close to my mattress, and this is with a mattress cover and sheets on the bed. It is mostly unnoticeable now though. To give a sense of the firmness of this mattress I'll rate it on a scale of 1-10; 1 being the softest possible surface and 10 being comparable to sleeping on the cold hard ground. To me, at my age, height & weight (ectomorph), this mattress is an 8 with the blue side up. This is a firm mattress to me. Of course your preferences and your body build/composition are going to differ from mine. Honestly, I was a little disappointed with how firm it was given the conflicting reviews found here and my experience with my partner's memory foam mattress.I gave the mattress a two week trial run, during which I tried to convince myself that the mattress was not as firm as I initially thought and that I would adjust to it. I was sleeping through the night without too much of a problem, but my back was often stiff in the morning and I just felt that I could definitely be having a more comfortable sleep. After two weeks, I replied to the generic email sent from the seller asking for feedback and listed my concerns about the off-gassing and the unexpected firmness. Even though I sent my email on a weekend, I received a very timely response with an apology and an offer to remedy the situation by sending me a softer 2" mattress topper to help reduce the firmness, and a cover to help reduce the smell, gratis. I was very pleased with the level of customer service demonstrated by All Sleep, as they had no obligation to send me anything for free yet did so without hesitation. This kind of service is very hard to find, so big props to them! They also offered to extend the return window for the mattress if I was still not satisfied. After receiving the 2" mattress topper and cover from them and placing them on the bed, I am happy to report that my sleep has never been better. The two inches of soft foam on top of the mattress is just enough to provide a soft cushion over the more firm supportive memory foam layer beneath. The cover they included was a little cheap, but it includes some light padding which actually feels really nice under my jersey sheets. I don't think it is doing a whole lot for the odor, however. With this new setup, I am sleeping soundly and waking up feeling well-rested and pain-free. THIS is the mattress I was hoping for all along. Thank you All Sleep!Overall, my experience with All Sleep has been excellent and I would not hesitate to recommend them as a seller after my experience. Even though this mattress was too firm for my liking, they offered to resolve my issues quickly. I still have my reservations about memory foam off-gassing and some of the chemicals used in foam manufacture such as flame retardants like chlorinated tris. On that note, I urge anyone who is concerned about the safety of memory foam chemicals to do your own research; the NY Times article "How Dangerous Is Your Couch?" from 2012 is a good place to start. As for me, I'm a poor college student so there isn't much of an alternative to memory foam for me at present. The fact that I'm sleeping comfortably now for such a low cost feels like a victory to me.JS

6 Year Review
I've owned and slept on this mattress nearly every day for 6 years (purchased in 2012 and this review is in 2018). Overall I'm really happy with it.The cover started to tear and come apart at year 2 and by year 3 I just cut it off since it was getting ratty. The cover is really thin and flimsy. I've had no problems using it without its cover, but I can see some nasty looking glue surrounding the outside of the mattress (maybe to hold the layers together?).I hate staying at hotels because their mattresses are never as good as this one at home.It sleeps a little hot but I like that. I don't find myself sweating in it and I like that it keeps me warm at night when my body temperature drops.Durability (besides the cover) has been excellent. I haven't worn a rut in the area I normally sleep. It only has slightly more give than the surroundings. I don't even notice it unless I try. Haven't noticed any other degradation.I would call this mattress medium-firm. I'm a combo sleeper (mostly side and stomach) and it's a tiny bit too firm for side sleeping and sometimes hurts my shoulder. It's really not that bad, though. I wish it was a little softe. I've also noticed that the mattress' responsiveness/firmness changes with temperature. Sometimes when I got on vacation I set my thermostat to 50F and when I come back the mattress feels totally different. Almost like a soft brick. Once it heats back up it feels normal. I guess this makes sense but it's something I found odd the first time it happened. When I first bought this it had only like 30 reviews and it felt like I was taking a big risk. I think it paid off. I was looking through my Amazon history and I can't believe they still sell this. With some no brand mattress I was expecting it to disappear from Amazon in a few months and have it disintegrate soon after. It's still here and for good reason. I like it.
