OLD mold - fit is problematic
Tamiya is known for excellent kits. This one may of been but based on the dates on the sprues, it is an old mold set. As such, I have run into a couple of places where the fit leaves gaps that have to be dealt with. Also a number of parts are TINY.Still - it is an interesting subject. There were 5 battleships of this class built. These were unique in the main turrets mounted 4 guns instead of the three found on the US Iowa class and Japanese battleships and the two seen on German ships. One, the Prince of Wales, saw action against the Bismarck...she survived, but was later sunk by the Japanese relatively early in the war. Of the remaining 4, they all survived the war, but where broken up in the late 50's so none survive today. The King George the V, the lead ship, was in the last battle with Bismarck - which is why I built this kit.So it is what it is. If you are building just for fun - there are a few challenges but nothing a moderately experienced modeler couldn't handle.
