Nice, compact, inexpensive ammo container.
This is a nice, reasonably priced ammo container. It's made of pretty thick, durable polymer, with a very beefy handle, a snug rubber gasket running around the inner edge of the lid, and a tight lid clasp. It's "lockable," that is, it has a hole in it's front-edge lip to put a small lock through, making this can "legal" for transporting ammo in states where a locked container is required. But you should keep in mind the container is made of polymer, and the lock isn't going to prevent someone from, e.g., walking off with the whole container and/or busting the lock/lid off with a crowbar or pair of big pliers. It will discourage children and nosy friends/guests from getting into the box, but I would consider this more of a convenience container (to keep your ammo dry and carry a small supply out to the range, camping, etc.) than a "security" box. It's not very big ... about the same storage capacity as your average adult lunchbox. If you buy/store your ammo in factory boxes, how much you can store in this can will depend entirely on the configuration of the boxes. For example, I could only fit 400 rounds of Federal Champion FMJ 9mm (bought in 4, 100-round "value packs") in this particular container, but those boxes left a substantial amount of space around them.If you buy/store multiple calibers/types of ammo loose, in bulk, you'll be able to put more than that in this can, depending on the size of your cartridges. For example, it would be a great storage/carrying solution for shooters who buy ammo in bulk, and want a container that's a bit smaller, lighter and more easily portable than the big steel containers the ammo came in, for actually going out on their shooting trips. For example, you keep your big, heavy cans locked up at home ... you re-fill this can and carry it with you to the range or field. For that kind of use, I'd say this box is perfect, especially if you want separate cans for different varieties of ammo ... the price is so modest, you'll be able to buy multiple, matching cans without breaking the bank, and just mark the outside of each can to show what kind of ammo is inside. If the box is a good fit for your intended use, you'll be happy with the quality and features of this Plano container.

Good fitment lots of room saved. Impressive for price
Put over 2k rounds of 22lr lose in can and still had room for 4 unopened boxes of 17HMR and 22M to fit inside case. No flexing or issues with case. Cleaned up a lot of clutter in my gun case and had no flex or issue fitting what i needed inside. Design and build quality cheap, will not hold very heavy rounds in large quantities but if used for the right porpoise you will have no issues. Ordered 2 cans and can now easily move my rim fire rounds and 9mm rounds easy. Cleared a lot of space in my gun cabinet. Very happy and would use again. Color isnt quite military green but close enough for me and my cabinet. Hard to match the color to metal though so the plastic looks pretty good next to a real ammo can.

Wasn't thrilled when these arrived
Don't let the headline fool you, I am completely pleased with these Plano Field Boxes. I wasn't thrilled when these arrived because I was shocked by the size. When I was looking at these prior to ordering them, I compared the dimensions of this box to another brand I already owned. What I found out was that the dimensions of this box are given for the outside and the other brand I already had gave the internal dimensions which were close in size. You can see what I'm talking about in the first picture.Even though I wasn't thrilled about the size of these when they first arrived, I couldn't beat the just over $18 I paid for 4 of these with sales tax. I was even told by the girlfriend that they were cute because of their size. Cute doesn't fit into my world when it comes to guns, ammo, and the world of shooting sports. I did however grow more fond of these because I figured I could use them for something else other than ammo storage. I could always use these for making a portable charge box for camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, or boating or storage of other items that don't need as much space.Well I took time out to see how much ammo these would actually hold since they say in the description that they will hold 6-8 boxes of .308 ammo which isn't much for rifle rounds. I chose to see what I could fit in one with 9mm and also 45 ACP if I filled them and how many rounds could be put in one of these before the lid and sides began to flex from the weight. Well as you can see in the other 2 photos, I was able to fit 1000 rounds of 9mm and 500 rounds of 45 ACP with room to spare. With that amount of weight in them the lid did flex a little around the handle but the walls stayed within the lip of the lid. After seeing the strength and durability of these boxes and knowing that my larger boxes flex enough at the lid and the sidewalls when half full (2500 rounds of 45 ACP) causing the lid to not seat back down over the side unless I manipulate it to, I got to looking closer to the plastic thickness. I discovered that these are actually thicker just ever so slightly than my larger boxes and their smaller size give them better rigidity.I will definitely buy these again if the price is right!!!!!Pros: durable construction, price, volume they hold for their size, the magnitude of things these can be used for, ease of use, stackableCons: their *cute* petite size (in the beginning), but not anymore

Excellent value, and a nice size for protecting many items from rain.
The value for the money is very good. The seal on mine was not very tight, but can fix it just by wrapping wire or tape around the brass latch. I did not purchase this to store ammo, but for storing small items that I wish to keep dry while camping or hunting.

Interior usable height is 6.0, not 6.5 as advertised.
The description says the Interior dimensions are 9.5” x 4.25” x 6.5”. However, if you put anything over 6.0 inches in it, the lid will not close. For me, it's useless at 6.0 inches height for what I was intending to use it for (to store something that is 6.3 inches tall), but it does seem like a decent case for anything that's not too heavy. The side walls are thinner and more flexible than I expected for an ammo can, but it should work for 'light duty' applications. I wouldn't throw it in the back of a truck, seems too fragile for that kind of use, but it will do for storing some lighter items on a shelf. I guess I'm used to metal ammo cans that are built to take a beating. I'll keep it, but wouldn't buy it again.
